Waldo E. Gibbons
GLASGOW – Waldo E. Gibbons, 84, of Glasgow, died Friday, April 12, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
He was born in Barren County, the son of the late Hershel J. Gibbons and the late Sara Elizabeth Sherfield. Mr. Gibbons was a farmer and a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean conflict. He was a member of DAV Chapter 20, Woodman of the World since 1950 and a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Blondel Gibbons of Glasgow; one son, Randy Gibbons and wife Reyna of Glasgow; three brothers, Walter Gibbons and wife Ruth of Cave City, Earl Gibbons of Glasgow and Douglas Gibbons and wife Linda of Glasgow; one sister, Ruby Smith of Cave City; several nieces and nephews; and a close friend, George Washer of Cave City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Danny Ray Gibbons; two brothers, Louis and Arthur Gibbons; and three sisters, Alice Bowles, Alma Chase and Effie Chase.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after noon Sunday at the funeral home.
LAFAYETTE, Tenn. — Agnes Maurine Hagan, 78, of Lafayette, Tenn., died at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at her residence. The Harts, W.V., native was a daughter of the late Frank Mullins Sr. and Ruth Elaine McCloud Mullins Farley.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Hagan, of Lafayette, Tenn.
Funeral services will be Saturday at Goad Funeral Home with Brother James Wheeler, Brother James Blankenship and Brother Eugene May officiating with burial in Haysville Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
EDMONTON — Ollie Estes Oakes, 90, of Edmonton, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Leslie and Ione Williams Nichols.
Mrs. Estes was a retired school teacher and member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, David and wife Linda Estes, of Edmonton; three grandchildren, Jillian and husband Joe Miller, of Edmonton, Patrick Shirley, of Edmonton, and Tyler Estes and partner Joele Denis, of Brooklyn, NY.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reid Oakes, and one sister, Mary Price.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
