HISEVILLE — John Luther Byrd, 85, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at his residence.
He was the son of the late James Corbitt Byrd and Mattie Estell Edwards Byrd. He was a native of Barren County, retired farmer and active member of Big Meadow Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Leah Margaret Cummins Byrd; one son, Philip Byrd and his wife Martha; one granddaughter, Alisha Wyatt and her husband Jason; one great-grandson, Jared; one brother, Samuel Byrd, of Knob Lick; one sister, Elizabeth Poynter; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his eldest son, Richard Paul Byrd; four brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation began after 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Kenneth O. McDaniel
GLASGOW — Kenneth O. “Red” McDaniel, 80, Glasgow, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at Metcalfe County Nursing Home.
A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Charles William and Lucy Sabens McDaniel. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Kiwanis and a member of Glasgow Baptist Church. He was retired manager of Hardee’s restaurant in Glasgow.
Survivors include three children, Vicki Snapp (Jeff), of Holiday, Fla., Alan McDaniel, of Bowling Green, and Beverly Vance (Donnie), of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Cristina Schilling (John), Jason Vance (Amanda Moore), Laurie Basham (Cortney) and David Vance (Kelly); seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lita Yates McDaniel; one grandson, Thomas McNamara; three brothers, Frank, David and W. J. McDaniel; one sister, Josephine Scott.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
