Kyle Edward Ballard
TOMPKINSVILLE — Kyle Edward Ballard, 76, of Tompkinsville, formerly of Summer Shade, died Dec. 24, 2012, at his home.
He was a farmer and a son of the late Radford and Sally Fansler Ballard.
He is survived by four daughters, Christina Ballard of Edmonton, Sinda Anderson and Karen Bartley, both of Summer Shade, and Becky (Davis) Hurt of Glasgow; three sons, Jason (Jessica) Ballard of Gamaliel, Ricky (Debbie) Ballard of Summer Shade, and Duane (Kim) Ballard of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Ruby Hendershott of Chicago, Ill., and Helen Miller of Alexandria; one brother, Kenneth Ballard of Tompkinsville; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Timmy Ballard, and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 28, at 1 p.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Mark Parks officiating. Burial followed in Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation began Thursday, Dec. 27, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Marshall ‘Slim’ Branham
MARROWBONE – Marshall “Slim” Branham, 75, of Marrowbone, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
Marshall was born on Aug. 29, 1937, in Cumberland County, to the late Jack and Lockie Daniels Branham.
He was a retired employee of Cumberland County Fiscal Court, retiring as road foreman, and was a member of Marrowbone Fire Department. He was of the Methodist faith and had attended Marrowbone United Methodist Church and Highland Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Crawford Branham of Marrowbone; four sons, Mark Branham and his wife Donna of Muncie, Ind., Troy Branham and his wife Linda of Burkesville, Eric Branham and his wife Lori of Burkesville, and Eddie Branham and his wife Marsha Jo of Marrowbone; one daughter, Carolyn White and her husband Jim of Wheelersburg, Ohio; three brothers, James H. Branham of Burkesville, Sherman “Tack” Branham and his wife Wanda of Burkesville, and Earl Branham and his wife Peggy of Marrowbone; two sisters, Robbie Murray and her husband Kenneth of Burkesville, and Margaret Serra and her husband Fred of Glasgow; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Burkesville, with Brother Lanny Garner and Brother Michael Harris officiating. Burial will be in Branham Cemetery. Family requests visitation from 5 until 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home in Burkesville.
Gregory Wilson Carver
SCOTTSVILLE — Gregory Wilson Carver, 63, of Scottsville, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green.
He was the son of the late Wilson and Jessie Calvert Carver.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Scottsville, with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Scottsville. Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 29, after 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42104.
Martha Elizabeth Howard
FOUNTAIN RUN — Martha Elizabeth Howard, 79, of Fountain Run, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at her residence in Fountain Run.
She was the widow of Leroy Howard.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at Fountain Run Funeral Home with burial Fountain Run Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday after 11 a.m.
Arrangements are by Fountain Run Funeral Home.
Elizabeth Ann Jackson
GLASGOW — Elizabeth Ann Jackson, 64, of Glasgow, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at her home.
The Barren County native was the daughter of the late Orville and Clara Mae Decker Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Wayne Jackson; two daughters, Tommie Britt (Kevin) of Scottsville and Jerri Lynn Johnson (Eric) of Bowling Green; a son, Jerry “Bug” Jackson of Glasgow; grandchildren: Jon-Michael Clement (Kasey), Katie Jackson, Dakota Britt and Morgan Johnson, all of Bowling Green, Taylor Jackson of Scottsville, Chase Jackson of Glasgow and Christopher and Richard of Glasgow; two sisters, Putchie Garmon and Mitchie (Garry) Brooks of Glasgow; a brother-in-law, Gary Medley of Glasgow; and a special cousin, Darline Slayton.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Louise Wix, and two sisters, Darlene Medley and Louise Smith.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday.
McKinley ‘Kenny’ Key
CAVE CITY — McKinley “Kenny” Key, 75, of Cave City, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
Graveside services with Stephen Cavness officiating will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at Cave City Cemetery. Visitation at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, will be after 10:30 a.m. Sunday until time of services.
GLASGOW — Raymond Phillips, 74, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
The Glasgow native was a former employee of Barton Construction. He was a son of the late Johnny Joe Bryan Phillips and Dora Isabell Davis Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Lora Jane Phillips, Glasgow; two sons, Doug Phillips and wife Vickie, Scottsville, and David Phillips, Glasgow; one daughter, Debbie Steadman and husband Bruce, Glasgow; one brother, Cleatus Phillips and wife Becky, Glasgow; five sisters, Pauline Holman and husband, Veachel, Railton, Lois Marie Chase, Francis Proffitt and Ella Berryman, all of Glasgow, Doris Cherry and husband, James, Indianapolis, Ind.; five grandchildren, Eric Britt and wife Janie, Alice Phillips and Whitney Phillips, all of Glasgow, Derrick Pearson and Kyle Pearson, both of Scottsville; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa Britt, Kylie Pearson and Kendall Pearson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Phillips, and one sister, Mary Phillips.

Roy Marrs Petett
HORSE CAVE — Roy Marrs Petett, 70, of Horse Cave, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Caverna Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Monroe County, near Tompkinsville.
He is survived by his best friend and wife of 48 years, Judy Watson Petett.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at Horse Cave Church of Christ under direction of Winn Funeral Home in Horse Cave. Burial will follow in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Winn Funeral Home from 1 until 9 p.m. on Saturday after 1 p.m. Sunday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
MUNFORDVILLE — Joan Rigdon, 69, of Munfordville died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at her home.
She was born in Cub Run on March 20, 1943, to the late George Thomas Childress and Rachel Stith Childress.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph W. Rigdon.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Cherry Springs Baptist Church with Brother Mickie Clemons officiating. Burial will be in Rigdon Family Cemetery at Munfordville. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:30 to 8 p.m. at Sego Funeral Home and will continue after 9 a.m. Sunday at Cherry Springs Baptist Church until time for services.
Shirley ‘Shirl’ Ann Walter
GLASGOW — Shirley “Shirl” Ann Walter, 72, of Glasgow died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
She was born in Canton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Myron Joseph and Gertrude Agnes Heintz Walter. Miss Walter was a registered dietician working for 30 years with a long-term care facility and other businesses.
She is survived by three sisters, Janice Hearn of Sisters, OR, Marjorie Walter of Huntington, WV, and Myra Jo Riffle (Ed) of Glasgow; two brothers, Paul Walter (Carolyn) and Daryl Walter (Bertie) both of Salem, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no services locally and a memorial service will be scheduled for a later time in Salem, Ohio. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Linda Leigh Wilkerson
ALVATON — Linda Leigh Wilkerson, 71, of Alvaton, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Hospice House in Bowling Green.
She was born on April 26, 1941, to the late Armond and Mabel Cottrell Thompson. She was the wife of Laymon Wilkerson.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with Brother Steve Ayers officiating. Burial will be in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice House of Bowling Green or to the American Cancer Society.
SUMMER SHADE — Truman Lester (T.L.) Moody, 86 of Tompkinsville, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Monroe County Health Care. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in Bushong Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at 10 a.m. until time for services at 1 p.m.
