GLASGOW — Mitchell S. Berry

SCOTTSVILLE – Mitchell S. Berry, 89, of Scottsville, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at his residence.

The Barren County native was a farmer, retired employee of the Naval Ordinance, member and deacon of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, World War II Army veteran, member of the Cattleman’s Association and Graham Lodge #208 F & AM and an avid rose gardener.

He was a son of the late Willis Berry and Myrtie Carver Berry.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Cunningham Berry, Scottsville; one brother, Willis Reid Berry and wife Gladys, Glasgow; one brother-in-law, Drewie G. Cunningham and wife Katie, Turner Station; one sister-in-law, Beatrice Hawes and husband Lucian, Scottsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Goad Funeral Home with Brother Billy Moran officiating and burial in Pleasant Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday until funeral time.


Billy Reed Burnett

BOWLING GREEN – Billy Reed Burnett, 78, of Bowling Green, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at his residence.

He was the son of the late Aubrey and Hazel Dunn Burnett, and husband of Barbara Johnson Burnett, who survives.

Funeral services will be noon Wednesday, April 3, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Shadyland Church Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.


Mrs. Audrey Jennings Judd

JONESBORO, Ark. – Mrs. Audrey Jennings Judd, of Arkansas, a native of Green County, and daughter of the late Isaac N. Jeffries and Hattie A. Jeffries, departed this life on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was 93 years of age.

She was united in marriage to Ralph H. Judd, who survives.

The funeral services for Mrs. Audrey Jennings Judd will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in Judd Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 5 until 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home and after 7 a.m. Saturday until time of the funeral service.

J.D. McGuire

FORREST, Ill. – Joseph Dee McGuire, 82, of Forrest, formerly of Fairbury and Glasgow, Ky., passed away at 11:08 p.m., March 31, 2013, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

J.D. was born June 8, 1930, in Temple Hill, Ky., the son of George and Rose Chambers McGuire.

He married Dolores Vaughan on Nov. 19, 1955, in Fairbury. She died April 9, 1993. He then married Louise Harlow Dean on April 6, 1996. She survives in Glasgow, Ky.

Also surviving are his sons; Tim (Sharon) McGuire, of Fairbury, Mike (Kellee) McGuire, of Forrest, and Bill (Mary) Masters, of Cape Coral, Fla; step-daughter, Kathy (Daryl) Hutchison, of Nashville, Tenn; 14 grandchildren, Jason McGuire, Brandi (Alan) Stipp, Shawn McGuire, Scott (Ashley ) McGuire, Jenna (Brad) Brucker, Ron (Tami) Masters, Lisa (David) Doran, Aaron (Jackie) Masters, Corey (Lydia) Masters, Rick (Shawn) Masters, Jeremy (Amy) Masters, Nathan (Sarah) Masters, Leslie (Nathan) Romersberger, and LeAnn (Dan) Leuban; 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Lois) McGuire, of Franklin, Ind., and Rex McGuire, of Bloomington; sisters, Helen (Charles) Perkins, of Glasgow, and Pernie Jewel Williams, of Hammond, Ind.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters.

He retired from Pittsburg Tube as a truck driver in 1991.

He was a member of Teamsters Union and American Legion in Forrest

J.D. was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953.

He loved being outdoors hunting, fishing, and golfing.

J.D. will be missed dearly by his family, especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.

His family is comforted to know that in his final days he accepted the Lord as his Savior and is peacefully in heaven.

Funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Fairbury. Pastor Steve Anderson will be officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, also at the church and one hour prior to services on Friday.

Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Forrest American Legion or Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

Mabel Marie Simmons

BOWLING GREEN – Mabel Marie Simmons, 100, of Bowling Green, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Colonial Manor Care & Rehab.

She was the daughter of the late Walter Ross and Anna Marie Heimsar Cook, and wife of the late Jesse Walker Simmons.

A memorial service will be Friday, April 5, 2013, 11 a.m., at The Presbyterian Church, 1003 State St., Bowling Green, under the direction of Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel.

Visitation is Friday 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Patricia Carol Wilson

GLASGOW – Patricia Carol Wilson, 62, of Glasgow, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at her residence.

She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late Horace Dennison II and the late Doris Ann Dismon. Mrs. Wilson was a LPN and was a former employee of Bowling Green Medco Center and attended Coral Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Glen Alan Hunley, of Scottsville, William Adam Wilson, of Glasgow and Richard Jason Wilson, of Glasgow; one daughter, Lisa Blankenbeckler and husband Terry, of Crawfordsville, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, William Chandler Wilson, Gregory Shubert, Stephanie Shubert, Summer Shubert, Wesley Williams, Cassie Williams, Jordan Blankenbeckler, Madison Hunley, Reagan Hunley and Joseph Hunley; three great-grandchildren, Alexis Shubert, Gavin Mansfield and Gabriel Hall; one sister, Phyllis Pendleton and husband Eddie, of Bowling Green; two brothers, Tim Bow and wife Kellie and Todd Bow, both of Glasgow; and special friend, Penny Peden, of Glasgow.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death a brother, Horace “David” Dennison III.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday April 3, 2013, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time for funeral services.

Family request that in addition to flowers a contribution may be made toward the funeral expenses.


EDMONTON – W.C. Ferguson, 81, of Knob Lick, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Metcalfe County Health Care in Edmonton. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in New Liberty Cemetery.

GREENVILLE – Malinda Joyce Johnson, 52, of Greenville, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital ER in Greenville. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from noon until time for services at the funeral home.
