SMITHS GROVE – David Paul Shaw, 56, of Smiths Grove, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at his residence.
He was the son of the late Herman Paul and Frances Logan Shaw and husband of Jacklyn Bessette Shaw, who survives.
There will be no funeral service. Visitation was Monday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove Chapel.
CENTER – Zorada South, 88, of Center, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at her home.
She was the daughter of the late Finnis and Price Chaney England. She was a homemaker and member of Center United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Danny South, of Center; one daughter, Linda and husband Fred Amis, of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Kristy Holland, Dana Wade, Heather Passafiume, and Ashley Colon; seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Linden South, and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Asbury-Center Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until time for service.
The family request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the North Metcalfe Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
Barbara Gayle Sparkman
NORMAN, Okla. – Barbara Gayle Sparkman, 59, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at her home, on Nov. 20, 2013, in Norman, Okla.
She was born Oct. 11, 1954, in Glasgow, to Hollan Thomas and Gladys Ray Sexton. Barbara married Mike Sparkman on Dec. 30, 1977, in Stillwater, Okla., and they raised two sons, Matthew and Joseph.
Barbara was a registered dietitian and program director for the Oklahoma County Senior Nutrition Program, retiring after 40 years of service in 2012. She loved cooking for her family, reading books and gardening. Barbara was also known for making sure everyone ate plenty of food while relaxing by the pool and being the “lady that runs this place.” She will be remembered by her family as a strong-willed and loving person.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 35 years, Mike Sparkman, of the home; two sons, Matthew and wife Deane, of Norman and Joseph and wife Megn, of Norman; two brothers, Garry Sexton and wife Tresia, of Glasgow, Jeffrey Sexton and wife Darlene, of Smiths Grove; five grandchildren, Chase, Sylas, Jaxon, Gray and Boyd; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Barbara Sparkman to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 115 Park Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73102.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman.
Arrangements for Barbara and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family at Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
