GLASGOW — Roger Dale Durrett

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Roger Dale Durrett, 67, died Monday, March 25, 2013, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Ind., following an extended illness.

Born in Floyd County, Ind. on October, 23, 1945, he was the son of the late Robert Sidney and Mary Jane Ballard Durrett. He was retired from Colgate-Palmolive Company and a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by a son, David Durrett (wife Christy); a grandson, Jon; two granddaughters, Abby and Bailey, all of Greenville, Ind.; a step-grandson, Bobby Waynescott, of New Albany, Ind.; and a sister, Betty Durrett, of Glasgow.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Durrett.

There will be no visitation; a graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 29, at Mount Zion Methodist Church Cemetery on Hwy. 11, Elizabeth, Ind.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home, Georgetown, Ind.

Clifton L. Smith

SUMMER SHADE – Clifton L. Smith, 75, of Summer Shade, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at the Monroe County Medical Center.

He was a farmer and the son of the late Raymond Lawrence Smith and Mary Allen Fletcher Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Ethridge Smith; two daughters, Nancy Ellen Miller and Barbara Smith Hagan (Bobby), both of Summer Shade; three grandchildren, Cindy Miller Day (Jason), of Cub Run, Amy and Daniel Miller, of Summer Shade; two great-grandchildren, Jacie Day and Waylon Miller.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Lawrence Smith.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at White Chapel in Monroe County with interment in White Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, at McMurtrey Funeral Home.


SCOTTSVILLE – Sarah Alexander Garmon, 77, died Monday, March 25, 2013, at The Medical Center at Scottsville. Visitation is in progress. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at T.W. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Scottsville Baptist Church and the Allen County Animal Shelter.

ELIZABETHTOWN – William Thomas (Penny) Walters died March 25, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at Memory Park Cemetery in Bonnieville.
