James Paul Crabtree Jr.
TOMPKINSVILLE – James Paul Crabtree Jr., 65, of Tompkinsville, formerly of Somerset, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.
He was born Sept. 14, 1947, in Somerset to the late James Paul Crabtree Sr. and Marie Hatfield Crabtree. He was a retired carpenter, a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Stearns, and a U.S. Army veteran. He was united in marriage on Feb. 5, 1972 to Ginger Adams Crabtree.
He is survived by his wife, Ginger Crabtree, of Tompkinsville; one son, James Paul Crabtree III, of Arkadelphia, Ark.; two sisters, June Hearld, of Indianapolis, Ind., Brenda Baty, of Burnside; two brothers, Donnie Crabtree, of Bismarck, Ark., Jack Crabtree of Columbia; three grandchildren, Matthew, Dillon, and Brian VanCamp.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Crabtree, and a daughter, Trina Hill.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 15, at 2 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial in Gamaliel Cemetery. Tim McHenry officiated. Military rites were performed at graveside by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow.
Johnny L. Rice
MUNFORDVILLE – Johnny L. Rice, 63, of Munfordville, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at his home in Munfordville.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Woodsonville Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Leroy Rice and the late Bessie Whitlow Rice.
He is survived by two sons, Levise Rice, of Glasgow, and Shawndale Rice, of California; two sisters, Alice Esters, of Horse Cave, and Edna Hector, of Louisville; two brothers, Charles Rice, of Cave City, and Eddie J Rice, of Elizabethtown, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Rice Jr.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 18, at Brooks Funeral Home in Munfordville, and from 10 a.m. until time for services at Woodsonville Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at Woodsonville Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, with Rev. K. T. Ford and Dr. Mike Rice officiating. Burial will be at Woodsonville Memorial Gardens in Munfordville.
