Lois G. McFarland

GLASGOW – Lois G. McFarland, 90, of Glasgow, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Magnolia Village in Bowling Green.

A native of Metcalfe County, she was a daughter of the late Oren and Bertha Hayes Word.

She was a retired seamstress at Handmacher Fashions and was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Loretta West, of Scottsville; one son, Jerry McFarland and his wife Jo, of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Karen Long Kane and husband Michael, of Ashland City, Tenn.; Antrina Harbison and husband Jason, of Bowling Green; Chad McFarland and fiancée Sheila, of Glasgow; and Jay McFarland and wife Leona, of Glasgow; one sister, Marine Caffee, of Columbus, Ind.; one brother, Neal Word, of Edmonton; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Carl McFarland; three sisters, Maxine Estes, Aline Stephens, and Betty Gibson; two brothers, Leron Word and Charles Word.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
