WOODBURN – Charles Harlow, 65, of Woodburn, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at the Alvin C. York VA Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
He was a son of the late Garnett E. Sr. and Lettie Frances Hood Harlow. He was preceded in death by his long-time companion, Jackie Allen, and a sister, Barbara Jean Mills. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and a proud Marine who served in Vietnam where he received several honorable medals such as National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with a star, RVN Cross of Gallantry.
Survivors include two brothers, Ganett Harlow Jr. and wife Brenda and David Harlow and wife Pat; a brother-in-law, Jesse Mills; an uncle and aunt, Curtis and Christine Miller.
He had several nieces and nephews that he loved greatly and several cousins.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in the VA section of Fairview Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
HARDYVILLE – Veachel Lile, 87, of Hardyville, passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at his home.
He was a native of Metcalfe County, a retired farmer, a United States Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of VFW Post 6281 and the American Legion Post 65. He was also a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Center Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lile and Bertie Walton Lile; his wife, Othella Lile on April 18, 2013, after 66 years of marriage, He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Eugenia Rice and Maedell Jewell, and a great-grandson.
Veachel is survived by two daughters, Gardenia Riordan and her husband Keith, of Hardyville, and Trewresa Gilbert, of Hardyville; and two sons, Denzil Lile and his wife Connie, of Elizabethtown, and Deward Lile and his wife Sandy, of Hardy-ville; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; his sister, Kay London, of Horse Cave; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial with military honors in Atwel-Rock Cemetery near Shady Grove. Visitation will be at Winn Funeral Home from 4 until 8 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. until funeral time on Sunday.
Christine ‘Teenie’ Snyder
MAGNOLIA – Christine “Teenie” Snyder, 63, of Magnolia, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at her home.
She was born in Canmer on Nov. 17, 1950, to the late James Wells and Juanita Graham Wells. She was of the Baptist faith and was the wife of the late Joe Snyder.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with Brother Phillip Bradshaw officiating. Burial will be in Knoxes Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Sunday at Sego Funeral Home.
Mary Elizabeth Wilson
GAMALIEL – Mary Elizabeth Wilson, 97, of Gamaliel, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at The Palace in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn.
She was the wife of the late Dewey Wilson and daughter of the late Earl Thomas and Zena Deweese Thomas.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, and after 7:30 a.m. on Monday at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel. Funeral service will be Monday, Dec. 23, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Rocky Hill Cemetery in Monroe County.
Memorials are suggested to the Rocky Hill Cemetery.
GLASGOW – Charles Lethel Bridges, 90, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Merry Oaks Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by D.A.V. Chapter 20 of Glasgow.
GLASGOW – Peggy Hopkins, 80, of Glasgow, died Dec. 18, 2013. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with burial at Poplar Log Cemetery.
GLASGOW – Nancy Carol Nuckols, 69, of Glasgow, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
FOUNTAIN RUN – Velma Netherton Wood Shirley, of Fountain Run, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Freedom # 2 Baptist Church with burial to follow in Freedom # 2 Cemetery.
