GRIDERVILLE – Irene Edwards, 81, of Griderville, died Monday, April 22, 2013, at the University of Louisville Hospital.
A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene H. “Jack” Turner and Dessie Grider Turner, and widow of the late Kenneth Clayton Edwards Sr. She was a self- employed farmer, a tax preparer and a member of Hiseville Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth C. Edwards Jr. and his wife Jane, of Griderville, and Jeff Edwards and his wife Bobbi, of Summer Shade; four granddaughters: Trinity Gonzalez and husband, Jesus; Morgan Edwards and her fiancé Eric Houghtaling; Katherine Brodbeck and husband Jake; and Meghan Edwards; three great-grandchildren, Eva Claire Gonzalez, Maggie Dee Houghtaling and Clayton Jacob Brodbeck.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Hiseville Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
EDMONTON – Richard Sartin, 89, of Edmonton, died Sunday, April 21, 2013.
He is survived by daughter Shelia and husband Fred Ray, of Edmonton; two sons, Rick and Marilee Sartin, of Louisville, and Todd Sartin, of Fischerville; two grandchildren, Walker Veal and John Ray; two great-grandchildren, Brittany Glass and Connor Ray; and two great-great-grandchildren, Lexie and Braedon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Sartin.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Randolph. Butler Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Jack Carver Shelton
GLASGOW – Jack Carver Shelton, 86, of Glasgow, died Monday, April 22, 2013, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville.
He was born in Barren County, a son of the late Frank and Lena Carver Shelton. Mr. Shelton was a former Barren County Magistrate for 18 years and was employed by Cave City Chevrolet for 30 years. Jack was also a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Austin Lodge #847 F&AM and of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Carver Shelton; one daughter, Sandra Vibbert and husband Tim, of Glasgow; one nephew, Jerry Wayne Shelton, of Bowling Green; and three nieces, Frankie Jo Bradley and Billie Shelton, of Glasgow, and Judy Shelton, of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Guy, Wayne, Wendell and Joe Shelton.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday and the public is welcome to attend.
Johnny C. Smith
SMITHS GROVE – Johnny C. Smith, 75, of Smiths Grove, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at his residence.
He was the son of the late Cozy and Helen Duckett Smith, and husband of Janis Stone Smith, who survives.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 24, at 11 a.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin Wednesday, July 23, at 3 p.m. and continue at the funeral home until time of services on Thursday.

William E. 'Bill' Wade, 82, of Columbia, Md.
A memorial service will be held at Harry H. Witzke’s Family Funeral Home, Inc. in Ellicott City, Md., at 1 p.m. on July 26, 2014. A private burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
