Ewing Thomas ‘Tommy’ Humphrey
GLASGOW – Ewing Thomas “Tommy” Humphrey, 78, of Glasgow, died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow.
He was born in Barren County, a son of the late Porter Ewing and Ovie Ellen Key Humphrey. Mr. Humphrey was an employee and an assistant manager at J. J. Newberry in Glasgow for 36 years. He was a veteran serving with the U.S. Marine Corp and was a member of the Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Glasgow.
Survivors include his wife, Caroll Humphrey; four daughters, Shelia Foster and husband David, of Glasgow, Sharon Grider, of Hardyville, Sondra Humphrey, of Glasgow and Kathy DeWeese and husband Mike, of Edmonton; one stepdaughter, Trudy Wyant and husband Charles, of El Paso, Texas; a step-granddaughter, Victoria Walton, of Glasgow; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a sister, Dorothy Jean Harvey and husband Joe Donald, of Virginia. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Bragg, a brother, Kenneth “Red” Humphrey and a stepson, Wesley Glaspy.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Burial with military honors provided by D.A.V. Chapter 20 of Glasgow will be in Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Monday.
HORSE CAVE – Elbert Paul, 93, of Horse Cave, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at Hart County Health Care Center in Horse Cave.
He is the son of the late Richard Paul and the late Lee Ennis Paul.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brooks Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Bearwallow Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at the church at 1 p.m. Monday with Rev. Glenn Woodard and Rev. Larry Graves officiating. Interment will be at Bearwallow Cemetery, Horse Cave.
Mary F. Portman
BONNIEVILLE – Mary F. Portman, 67, of Bonnieville, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
The Louisville native was the daughter of the late Everett Dabney and Onie Jane Farris Dabney.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from noon until time for services at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen to follow the funeral service.
BOWLING GREEN – Donald Thomas, 81, of Bowling Green, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at Rosewood Health Care Center.
A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Jack and Annie Mae Jones Thomas. He was a retired drill press operator, a volunteer at Boys Club of Bowling Green, a former foster grandparent, and a member of Bowling Green First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; two sons, Larry Thomas, of Virginia Beach, Chris Thomas and his wife Jeanna, of Franklin; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Thomas, of Bowling Green, Tiffany Nicole Thomas and Cody Wayne Thomas, of Virginia Beach; one great-grandson, Cameron Riley Thomas; two brothers, Douglas Thomas and Ernest Thomas, both of Glasgow; one sister, Edna Ashley, of Louisville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lester, Raymond, Kenneth, and Richard Thomas and three sisters, Elizabeth Carroll, Ethel Ogden, and Wilma Thomas.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
BOWLING GREEN – Caffa Elane Forshee, 72, of Bowling Green, died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel.
BOWLING GREEN – Tammy Dawn Shaw Graham, 50, of Bowling Green, formerly of Monroe County, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Cremation was chosen. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
LUTZ, Fla. – Perry Lewis, 54, of Lutz, Fla., died Tuesday, June 18, 2013. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Perry’s memory to Glasgow Baptist Church, 401 S. Green St., Glasgow, KY 42141. Local arrangements are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
TAYLORSVILLE, Ind. – Windell L. Pierce, 73, of Taylorsville, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Columbus Regional Hospital emergency room. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hawcreek Missionary Baptist Church on Mill Street in Hope. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hawcreek Missionary Baptist Church.
GLASGOW – Marguerite Jones Ryan, 98, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at the Barren County Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
FRANKFORT – McKinley Stonewall Jr., 52, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013. A celebration of life will be conducted from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Frankfort Plant Board Clubhouse, 98 Tanglewood Drive, Frankfort.
