Mabel Ree Emberton Deckard
TOMPKINSVILLE — Mabel Ree Emberton Deckard, 75, of Tompkinsville, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.
She was the daughter of the late John Riley Emberton and Dessie Martin Emberton.
Visitation will begin after 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 until time of service at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.
Funeral service will be Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in Monroe County.
Dr. Paul Raymond Hoskins
FORT PIERCE, Fla. — Paul Hoskins, 89, of Saint Lucie Village, and longtime Fort Pierce, Fla., dentist, passed away on Sept. 14, 2013.
Paul was born in Cowley, Wyo., on May 22, 1924, and moved to Morgantown, W. Va. in 1926 where he and his family remained for several years. He graduated from Morgantown High School, attended Mercersburg Academy, graduated from West Virginia University, and earned his D.D.S. degree from the University Of Pittsburg School Of Dentistry in 1947. He proudly served two years in the United States Air Force as a dentist.
Paul moved to Fort Pierce, Fla., in 1949 where he practiced dentistry for forty-two years. He was a member of the American Dental Association, a life member of the Florida Dental Association, a member of the Vero Beach Church of Christ, a former member of the Fort Pierce Rotary, a member of Delta Tau Delta and Psi Omega fraternities. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean Page Hoskins; son, Steve Hoskins and wife Beth, of Fort Pierce; granddaughters, Taylor and Page; brother-in-law, Bill Page and wife Barbara Page; brother-in-law, Royce Page and wife Renna Page, and their daughter, Beth Greer. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Hoskins and sister, Peggy Hoskins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mark Page Hoskins Memorial Scholarship at Western Kentucky University.
Visitation will be at A. F. Crow and Son Funeral Home Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, from 10 until 11 a.m., followed immediately by the funeral service. Interment will be in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
Louise Ball Kidd
GLASGOW – Louise Ball Kidd, Glasgow, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
A native of Metcalfe County, she was the daughter of the late Cleo and Annis Glass Ball. She was a retired seamstress at Ky. Pants Company, a long-time member of the Glasgow Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a member of Glasgow Chapter 257 of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Glasgow Garden Club, and an avid quilter and lover of flowers.
Survivors include her husband: Verlon Kidd; one son: Steve Kidd and his wife Lois; one grandson: Nathan Leigh Kidd; two great-granddaughters: Courtney Kidd and Casey Kidd, all of Glasgow; along with a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Howard Ball and Bernice Ball.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday, with Eastern Star services being at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Kosair Charities.
