George Fred Kerry
OCALA, Fla. – George Fred Kerry, 81, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Glasgow, passed away peacefully April 18, 2013, at Legacy Hospice House, Ocala, Fla.
He was born July 17, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pa., to John and Ida Waysz Kerry. He attended Williamson Trade School and worked in machine tool and die, including Defense Department design after his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army where he served in Korea.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Otto Kerry, of Ocala, Fla.; his two brothers, Jack Kerry, of Pa., and Jim Kerry (Donna), of Ocala, Fla.; two children, Lynne Kerry Pierce, of Glasgow, and Ronald George Kerry (Kathy), of Rochester Hills, Mich.; six grandchildren, Timothy David Pierce (Karen) and Dr. Kristi Lynne Pierce, both of Glasgow, Jeffrey Daniel Pierce, of West Palm City, Fla., Michael Sean Kerry, of Midland, Mich., James Patrick Kerry and Elizabeth Erin Kerry, both of Rochester Hills, Mich; great-grandsons, Jaxon Ray Pierce and Tanner Edward Pierce, both of Glasgow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida Waysz and John Kerry, and granddaughter, Kimberly Aileen Kerry.
A memorial service was conducted at Ocala West United Methodist Church on April 22. An inurnment ceremony, including full military honors, will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Ky., on July 1, at 10 a.m. CST.
Alma Mae Shaw Smith
EDMONTON – Alma Mae Shaw Smith, 93, of Edmonton, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Cumberland County Hospital.
She was a daughter of the late Hayden and Beulah Frances Hurt Shaw.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Tim Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Summer Shade Cemetery.
Visitation will begin 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
BOWLING GREEN – Mildred Jean Livesay Ferkler, 77, of Bowling Green, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at her residence. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Living Hope Baptist Church. Burial will be in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
