GLASGOW — Terry Dicken

GLASGOW – Terry Dicken, 59, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at 5:03 p.m. at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

He was born Aug. 2, 1954, in Cumberland County, to the late Clarence and Ira Garner Dicken. He was a factory worker.  

Survivors include his wife, Lola Loy Dicken, of Glasgow; two brothers, Doug (Martha) Dicken, of Glasgow, and Russell (Dot) Dicken, of Toledo, Ohio; father-in-law, Russell Loy, of Fairplay; brother-in-law, Marlton (Beverly) Loy, of Columbia. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be Sunday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Brother Elbert Hadley officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery. Visitation is after 3 p.m. Saturday. Grissom-Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Gloria Marie Johnson

GLASGOW – Gloria Marie Johnson, 52, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

She was born in Blaine, Ky., on Aug. 4, 1961, and was preceded in death by her father, James H. Ramey.

Marie was employed as an LPN at T.J. Samson Community Hospital and Glasgow Rehabilitation Center and was a member of Old Blaine United Baptist Church in Blaine. Marie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and grandmother, and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, David Johnson; her daughter, Sarah Jeffries and husband Aaron, of Glasgow; two sons, Matthew Johnson and wife Haley and Christopher Johnson and fiancé Lyndsey Crumpton, all of Glasgow; her mother, Lula Osborne Ramey, of Blaine; three grandchildren, Danielle and Shannon Jeffries and Mattox Johnson; three brothers, Larry Ramey, Bobby Ramey and wife Carol and James A. Ramey and wife Rosemary, all of Blaine; four sisters, Wanda Cordle and husband Gene and Jane Gilman and husband Cleve, both of Columbus, Ohio, Nancy Cordle and husband James Allen, of Blaine, and Debbie Ferguson and husband Mike, of Fort Gay, W.Va., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov.16 at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday.

Charles Wayne Poynter

CAVE CITY – Charles Wayne Poynter, 65, Cave City, passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

The Barren County native was the son of the late William Jr. and Lydia Doyle Poynter. He was a member of Servant Valley Baptist Church and was in the National Guard Army.

Survivors include a daughter, Denise Wheeler, of Glasgow; a son, Charles Howard “Chuck” Poynter, of Cave City; two brothers, Billy Joe Poynter, of Lawrenceburg, Steven Poynter, of Hazard; a granddaughter, Kelsey Reed Wheeler, of Glasgow; an aunt, Marie Coats, of Cave City; and a special friend, Susan Foist, of Cave City.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Servant Valley Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers and to help with funeral expenses, the family has requested that donations be made to Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, PO Box 457, Cave City, KY 42127.



Lorene Taylor

EDMONTON – Lorene Taylor, 77, of Edmonton, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday,  Nov. 12, 2013.

She was the daughter of the late Bailey and Eva Roach Davis, a homemaker, and member of Pink Ridge Baptist Church.    

She is survived by her husband, Raymon Taylor, of Edmonton; one son, Patrick and wife Pam Taylor, of Edmonton; four daughters, Betty and husband Johnny Jessie, of Glasgow, Callie Green and friend Ronnie Lawson, of Glasgow, Mary and husband Richard Matthews, of Edmonton, Ruth and husband Walter Gibbons, of Cave City; son-in-law, Wayne Matthews, of Edmonton; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild also survive.  

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Jerry, Willie and Baby Taylor; one daughter, Brenda Matthews; and two brothers, Charles and Billy Davis.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Foundation Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

LOUISVILLE – Jesse J. Goodhue, 77, of Louisville, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Baptist Healthcare in Louisville. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.



BRYAN, Texas – Opha Bea Wilson Laporte, 89, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at her home in Bryan, Texas. Graveside services will be conducted in Bryan.



SULPHUR WELL – Ruby Mae Wilson, 73, of Sulphur Well, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at U of L Hospital in Louisville. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Bowles Cemetery.
