Inis Josephine Shirley
GLASGOW – Inis Josephine Shirley, 97, of Glasgow, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at her home.
Born in Metcalfe County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Thomas and Lillie Morgan Sexton and the wife of the late Ray Shirley. Mrs. Shirley was a homemaker and member of Prices Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Tarry and husband Larry, of Glasgow, Kathy Dickson and husband Darrell, of Edmonton, and Loretta Dickson and husband Danny, of Glasgow; seven sons, Nolan Shirley, of Glasgow, Lendell Shirley and wife Judy, of Edmonton, Selby Shirley and wife Betty, of Glasgow, Maxie Shirley and wife Darlene, of Glasgow, Ronnie Shirley and wife Darlene, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Leon Shirley and wife Carolyn, of Glasgow, and Joe Shirley and wife Dawn, of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Kenneth Sexton, of Edmonton and Benny Sexton, of Columbia; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Paulette Shirley; two sisters, Clara Bragg and Zelma Roach; five brothers, Ollis Sexton, Granville Sexton, Holland Sexton, Chalman Sexton and Dewey Sexton.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Prices Creek Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Bragg Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Tuesday at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
