Charles Henry Barlow
CAVE CITY – Charles Henry Barlow, 73, of Cave City, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow.
He was the son of the late John Shelby Barlow and the late Bessie Lou Hatchett Barlow.
He is survived by his wife, Bettye Queen Green Barlow.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Brooks Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, Jan. 25, at Allen Seminary Baptist Church. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the church with Rev. Hugh Heater and Rev. David Greene officiating. Interment will be at Allen Seminary Cemetery in Hardyville.
Nelda Francis Broady Bruton
TOMPKINSVILLE – Nelda Francis Broady Bruton, 87, of Tompkinsville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Monroe County Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on June 27, 1926, in Randolph, a daughter of the late Lonnie and Mary (Shirley) Broady. On June 15, 1946, she married Lonus Bruton, who survives.
As a young woman, Nelda taught eight grades in a one-room school house during World War II. Along with being a homemaker, she co-owned and operated Bruton’s Supply Company, Inc. with her husband, Lonus, for 30 years. She was a member of Randolph Church of Christ.
Other survivors include one daughter, René, wife of Michael “Doc” Halliday, of Tompkinsville; and two granddaughters, Lauren, wife of Nicholas Carter, of Tompkinsville, and Lacey, wife of Brandon “Brady” Murley, of Bowling Green.
She was preceded in death by her 3-year-old daughter, Jo Rita, and one brother, Bronston Broady.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with Father Larry Gelthaus officiating. Visitation is Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home. Internment is at Monroe County Memorial Lawn Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Stroke Association.
