GLASGOW — Kenneth Westmoreland Carson, 57, Glasgow, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at home following a battle with cancer.
Ken was born in Louisville, on Aug. 11, 1956, and grew up in Bonham, Texas. He was a graduate of Sandia High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After a successful career in the music industry, Ken earned a nursing degree from Western Kentucky University and became a nursing supervisor for Greenwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was truly a person of strength and integrity, a loving, caring, intelligent man who was loved by all. He was a real human being, with a big personality, a passion for life, a sense of humor and a great love for his family. He led a full life and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife, Melanie McShane Carson and their daughter, Natalie Grace Carson, a seventh-grader at Glasgow Middle School, and stepson, Mark Christian Harrer, of Glasgow. Other survivors include his mother, Janeth Carson Strickland (Jim), of Texas; step-mother, Sharon Carson, of Kentucky; a sister, Elaine Doering (Roger), of Georgia; three step-sisters, Sherri Heckendorn (David), of Texas, Karen Reffett (Jason), of Indiana and Judy Chambers (Todd), of Indiana; two step-brothers, Jay Strickland (Barrie), of Texas and Andy Strickland, of California; an aunt, Lucille Harrell (Lester) and an uncle, Rique Carson (Ilene Benzman), both of Texas and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack McDonald Carson and his step-sister. Vicky Schofield (John).
Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery officiated by the Honorable Lee Mounger of Houston, Texas. There will be a celebration of life dinner immediately after his graveside service at the Ole French Restaurant in Glasgow.
