GLASGOW — Jonell ‘Nell’ Johnson

CAVE CITY – Jonell “Nell” Johnson, 105, of Cave City, passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at NHC Health Care, Glasgow.

The Clarkson native was born Oct. 4, 1907, to the late Henry and Rosalee Smith Gore and was the widow of Toby Johnson. She was a homemaker and member of Clarkson Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Doris Jean Thompson, Cave City; two grandchildren, Terry Thompson and Jeff Thompson; four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services with Ray Woodie officiating will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9 at Hiseville Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Professional services are being provided by Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City.

Nona Iva Lowe

GLASGOW – Nona Iva Lowe, 97, of Glasgow, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at Highland Ridge Assisted Living facility in Glasgow.

She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late William Franklin Helm and the late Emma J. Harrison Helm. Mrs. Lowe was a former employee of Sorensen’s in Glasgow and a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church.

Survivors include a cousin, Audrey Arterburn, of Glasgow; friend, Waldean Settle, of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus Evans Lowe; a daughter, Judith J. Lowe; a sister, Beatrice Lawrence; and several other brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.

Arnold Elton Mitchell

SMITHS GROVE – Arnold Elton Mitchell, 75, of Smiths Grove, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at Bowling Green Nursing and Rehab.

He was the son of the late Willis and Ear Schwegler Mitchell, and husband of Jessie Duncan Mitchell, who survives.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery #2. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
