Rev. Sylvester Lee Burba
CUB RUN – Rev. Sylvester Lee Burba, 83, of Cub Run, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at his home in Cub Run. He was the son of the late Ralph Burba and the late Estella Brooks Burba. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Hatfield Burba.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville. Funeral service will be at Brooks Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, with Brother Leland Childress officiating. Interment will be at Union Light Cemetery, Mammoth Cave.
BONNIEVILLE – Lillian Elliott, 95, formerly of Bonnieville, passed away at 5:35 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Caverna Memorial Hospital. She was born in Hart County, on June 14, 1918, to the late Henry Brewer and Roberta Thompson Brewer.
A graveside service for Lillian Elliott will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Memory Park Cemetery with burial to follow. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until 5 p.m. at Sego Funeral Home.
Charles and Frances Galloway
GLASGOW — Charles and Frances Galloway were called to their heavenly home on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013. They were both 63.
Charles and Frances knew each other, literally, their entire lives. Having attended grade school together, they became high school sweethearts and were married on Dec. 24, 1969.
For many years, Frances was a beautician in the Merry Oaks community. She would later be employed by the Barren County Board of Education as a teacher’s assistant at Barren Co. High School.
Charles, a certified master electrician, worked in maintenance for the Barren County School System for over 20 years. Having recently retired, they both worked tirelessly on the farm they called home their entire lives. They loved farming, horses, and spending time with their beloved grandchildren and they attended Highland Hills Community Church.
Charles and Frances are survived by their daughter, Amanda Lockhart, her husband Chad Lockhart and their two daughters, Macy and Laney Lockhart, of Glasgow.
Additionally Charles is survived by his mother, Virginia Galloway of Merry Oaks, his sister Beverly Elliott and family of Glasgow, his brother Jay Galloway and family of Louisville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Galloway and his great niece, Cheyenne Lloyd.
Frances is additionally survived by her sister Sharon Britt and family of Cave City, her brother Charlie Sturdivant and family of Park City, a special aunt, Mary Lockhart and cousin, Steve Lockhart, of Railton and several nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Sturdivant. They are also survived by their former foreign exchange student, Bernadette Clausen, of Germany and their faithful four legged friend, Abby.
Joint funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 at First United Methodist Church Family Life Center with burial in Hays Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Family Life Center after 11 a.m. Monday and will continue Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time for the service. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial contributions to: Gi Gi and Poppie Scholarship Fund at South Central Bank to benefit their grandchildren.
Patricia A. Hazelip
PARK CITY — Patricia A. Hazelip, 79, of Park City, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow.
She was the daughter of the late Warner and Pauline Hazelip of Park City. Pat was a graduate of Kentucky Weslyan College and taught English and Spanish at Park City High School. She spent most of her life in Park City where she was a faithful member of the Park City Methodist Church. Pat was an avid reader and is survived by her book club friends and her church family.
A memorial service will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 at Park City United Methodist Church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Park City Methodist Church, PO Box 206, Park City, KY 42160. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Justyne Gross Miller
TOMPKINSVILLE – Justyne Gross Miller, 85, of Tompkinsville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Monroe Health and Rehab Center in Tompkinsville.
Survivors include one son, Ricky Miller (Tammy), of Tompkinsville; two daughters, Diane Scantland (Bob), Bowling Green, and Joyce Miller, of Owensboro; one brother, George Gross, of Overland Park, Kansas; three grandchildren, Bobbye McDaniel (Shannon), of Bowling Green, Mackenzie Miller and Braxton Miller, of Tompkinsville; three great-grandchildren, Noah Scantland, Jackson, and Kennedi McDaniel, of Bowling Green.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim Tom” Miller and an infant son, Tim Lee Carter Miller.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Skaggs Creek Cemetery in Monroe County.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. on Saturday and after 7:30 a.m. on Sunday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Memorials are suggested to Skaggs Creek Cemetery.
