GLASGOW — James Dodson

GLASGOW – James Dewayne Dodson, 35, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at his home. 

He was born in Glasgow, the son of the late Clifton Wayne Dodson and Donnie Mae Norris. Mr. Dodson was an employee of Smith Painting in Bowling Green and when he wasn’t working, he loved riding Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. 

He is survived by his wife Lindsey Norris Dodson; one son, J.D. Dodson at home; his grandparents, James and Elizabeth Wooten of Glasgow; a brother, Allen Sanders, and wife Kim of Glasgow; three aunts, Martha Busey and Pam Nichols of Glasgow, and Cheryl Starks of Hope, Ind.; an uncle, Shane Reece; a brother-in-law, Benji Norris, of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews including Zack, Blake and Jakob Sanders. 

He was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Laura Morgan, and an uncle, David Starks.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Edgar Jerry Eden Sr.

GLASGOW – Edgar Jerry Eden Sr., 70, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

He was born in Boone County, Ind., to the late Raymond and Elsie Murray Eden. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Cordie York Eden; one daughter, Sherrie Meadows; one son, Jerry Eden, and his wife Sherry; three brothers; four sisters; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his loving pet, Chocolate.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Arvis Eden; one brother; three sisters; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral with cremation to follow.  

Alternate expressions of sympathy may be made to a favorite charity.

Mable L. Conner Harmon

SCOTTSVILLE – Mable L. Conner Harmon, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Moorehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, N.C.

She was the daughter of the late Jack and Zelma Spencer Conner and widow of the late Brother Fred Harmon. 

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Strode Funeral Home, Scottsville Chapel. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Johnie D. Jessie

GLASGOW – Johnie D. Jessie, 71, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at his home.  

He was the son of the late Hairce and Harriet Bragg Jessie.  He was a retired farmer and husband Edna Marie Jessie who preceded him in death Jan. 1, 2013.   

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Bragg Cemetery.   Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.   

He is survived by seven children: Ricky and wife Felicia Jessie of Glasgow, Danny and wife Glenda Jessie of Edmonton, Gary Jessie of Glasgow, Shelia and husband Willie Jones of Glasgow, Lisa and husband Lynn Rich of Glasgow, Terri and husband Tommy Neal of Glasgow and Juanita and husband Allen Hagan of Glasgow; 12 grandchildren: Karly Jessie, Eric and with Beth Jessie, April and husband Chris Shaw, Brittany Jessie, Tiffany and husband Will Gray, Nikki Jones, Brandon Rich, Tonya and husband Rob Slack, Tosha Neal, Cameron Neal, Ashley Hagan and Chase Jessie; five great-grandchildren: Dalton Jessie, Robbie Slack, Anna Slack, Lane Jennings and Tucker Jennings.  

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters:  Henry “Buster” Jessie, Harlan Jessie, Flossie Clemmons, Dorthy Lyons, Lucille Jessie and Marie Jessie. He was also preceded in death by a special aunt, Lou Ella Thompson.



William Clifton ‘Shorty’ Thompson

GLASGOW – William Clifton “Shorty” Thompson, 90, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Barren County Health Care.  

He was born in Barren County, the son of the late Will and Bessie Staples Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Wilson Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Jackie Garner of Glasgow; a granddaughter, Cassandra Garner of Glasgow; one sister, Nettie Ruth Bingham of Paducah; one brother, Raymond Jewell Thompson of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.  

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Gooch and Ruby Hause, and a brother, Ralph Thompson.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday.

MUNFORDVILLE — James Russell Bruton, 61, of Munfordville, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with burial in Munfordville Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Fairview Church of Christ.



CENTER — Alma Belle Lyle, 99, of Center, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
