BOWLING GREEN – Dorothy Louise Gay, 90, of Bowling Green, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at The Medical Center.
She was the daughter of the late Jessie Leroy and Pearl Abby Willis Johns and wife of the late Oliver Marian Gay.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Christian Fellowship Church with burial in Plum Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Leland Irwin Jr.
GLASGOW – Leland Irwin Jr., 76, Glasgow, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at his residence.
Arrangements are incomplete, but under the direction of Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
Dearil Wayne Jones
SUMMER SHADE – Dearil Wayne Jones, 68, of Summer Shade, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.
He was born Dec. 3, 1945, in Summer Shade. He was the son of Lillian (Traylor) Lewis and the late Wayne Jones, and the husband of Juanita Fancher Jones.
He was a retired truck driver, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Bethel Independent Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his wife and mother are, one son, Dwayne (Melissa) Jones, of Glasgow; two daughters, Sandra (Tony) Dehart, of Owensboro, and Annette (Charles King) Jones, of Summer Shade; one brother, Leroy Jennings, of Edmonton; one sister, Patricia (David Chapman) Jones, of Temple Hill; and his stepfather, Homer Jennings.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 16, at 1 p.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Ricky Proffitt officiating. Interment will be in Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contribution to Beaumont Cemetery may be made at the funeral home.
Reba Mae Landers
SMITHS GROVE – Reba Mae Landers, 71, of Smiths Grove, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at The Medical Center.
She was the daughter of the late James Wilcoxson and Ruth Bennett Wilcoxson, who survives, and wife of the late Mike Landers.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove Chapel, with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery,
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Elaine Long Lawrence
BOWLING GREEN – Elaine Long Lawrence, 62, of Bowling Green, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at The Medical Center.
She was the daughter of the late Melvin and Frances Cole Long, and wife of Dale Lawrence, who survives.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Cremation was chosen.

Carolyn Elizabeth Smith
GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. – Carolyn Elizabeth Smith, 66, of Goodlettsville, Tenn., passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Alive Hospice at Skyline Madison Campus.
She is survived by her son, Lance Smith of Adairville; daughter, Nicole Smith (Terry) Swindle, of Glasgow; sisters, Pauline (Milton) Anders, of Goodlettsville, Josephine (Bob) Nanney, of Goodlettsville, Ogeal (Herbert) Warden of Franklin, and Mary Ann Morris of White House; and granddaughters, Courtney Swindle and Megan Swindle, both of Glasgow.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Brother Dean Sircy officiating. Burial will follow in Dorris Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again Friday morning from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House is in charge of these arrangements.
SGM Raymond J. Thompson
KEMPNER, Texas – SGM Raymond J. Thompson, US Army (Ret.), 81, of Kempner, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, in Temple.
Mr. Thompson was born on Aug. 25, 1932, in Glasgow, to the late William Powers and Bessie Staples Thompson. He grew up in Glasgow and graduated from Glasgow High School. He married Barbara Izetta Houchens on May 2, 1953. He entered the U.S. Army at a young age and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired as a Sgt. Major in 1979 with more than 20 years of service. He and his wife moved to Kempner in 1977. She preceded him in death on Nov. 4, 2003. He was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by a daughter, Tina Bishop and husband John, of Belton; four sons, Terry Thompson and wife Brenda, of Kempner, Chuck Thompson and wife Angela, of Matthews, N.C., Mark Thompson and wife Denise, of Katy, and Jason Thompson, of Trophy Club; one sister, Nettie Ruth Bingham, of Paducah, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, Michelle Thompson, Jennifer Hoelscher and husband Jason, David Thompson, Stacy Thompson, Dylan Thompson, Kayla Bishop, Marcy Thompson, Colt Thompson, Chucky Thompson, Taylor Bishop, Abbi Thompson; and one great-grandson, Ryden Ray Hoelscher.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Clear Creek Baptist Church in Kempner, with Rev. Thomas Edwards officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Scott’s Funeral Home.

Horace John Wing
MOUNT JULIET, Tenn. – Horace John Wing, 86, of Mount Juliet, Tenn., died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014.
Mr. Wing was a member of Hermitage United Methodist Church and a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was the son of the late Clinton Benjamin and Florence Ruth Williamson Wing. Mr. Wing was also preceded in death by his brother, Clinton Wing Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret L. Wing; sons, John Daniel (Tami) Wing and Robert Keith (Paula) Wing; brothers, Stafford Lee Wing and Randy Wing; sister, Kathy Maloney; grandchildren, Angela Waldridge, John Michael Wing, Amber Maybrey, Elizabeth Thomas, Courtney Smith, Josh Anderson and Christa Wing; great-grandchildren, Brandon Collett, Chase Waldridge, Sophie Wing, Olivia Maybrey, Lydia Wing and Amelia Maybrey

Mr. Smith chose cremation and a memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
