James Robert ‘Bobby’ Brown Jr.
BOWLING GREEN – James Robert “Bobby” Brown Jr., 49, Bowling Green, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at his residence.
A native of Glasgow, he was a son of the late James Robert Brown Sr. and Delilah Ruth Lee Brown. He was an employee of Hinton Cleaners and a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Nickie Nicole Brown, and one son, Robert Lee Brown, both of Glasgow; one grandson, Bentley Whayne Brown; two stepchildren, Amy Gail Sowash and Sally Jo McCoy; his fiancée, Mary Lou Durbin; one brother, Garnett Lee Brown of Glasgow; three sisters, Ruby Neighbors (David) and Della Mae Gaskin, all of Bowling Green, and Betty Ewing (Roy), of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
John Mayrold Johnson
GLASGOW – John Mayrold Johnson, 84, U.S. Army veteran, late of Glasgow; Key Colony Beach, Fla., and formerly of Chicago, Ill. and Mattoon, Ill., passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012, from injuries sustained in an accident.
He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth “Bette” Johnson, loving father of Jay (Carmen) Johnson, Rome, Ga., and the late Jeffrey “Jeff” Johnson, Danville; brother of the late Jeanne Smith, devoted grandfather of Angel Johnson, Chattanooga, Tenn., Chandler Johnson, Rome, Ga., Dana Johnson, Danville, and the late Amy Johnson; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews, and great friend and advisor to countless. He had many years of service with R.R. Donnelley.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 31, 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 S. Southwest Highway, Palos Hills, Ill. (7700W). Interment, Cedar Park Cemetery.
Betty L. Mabbitt
ATLANTA, Ga. – Betty L. Mabbitt, 70, formerly of Summer Shade, died July 25, 2012, in Atlanta, Ga. She was a daughter of the late Maxwell and Beulah Turner Mabbitt, of Illinois, and was a member of Cornerstone Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Jill Clatterbuck, of Jackson, Ga., and one son, Jeff Clatterbuck of Jackson, Ga.; two grandchildren, Randy Clatterbuck and Natalie Lanier; three sisters, Jackie Puetz, Juel Harris and Nancy (Roscoe) Martin, all of Indiana; three brothers, Robert (Treva) Mabbitt, Richard (Lexie) Mabbitt, and Bill (Terry) Mabbitt, all of Illinois.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Mitchell Clatterbuck and Eric Taylor; brothers, Pete and Rudy Mabbitt and one sister, May Pasco.
Funeral services will be Sunday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Brother Mark Parks officiating. Burial will follow in Summer Shade Cemetery.
Visitation will begin Saturday, July 28, at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
