TOMPKINSVILLE — Dorothy “Dot” Gittings Richardson, 81, of Tompkinsville, died Monday, May 12, 2014, at Monroe County Medical Center.
Born July 12, 1932, in the Elbow community of Monroe County, she was the daughter of the late Sam Benton and Annie Lee Geralds Gittings.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and attended church at Cedar Grove Church of Christ and Elbow Bend Church of Christ. She was retired from Red Kap.
She is survived by one sister, Susan Stephens, of Center; a brother, Rex (June) Gittings, of Tompkinsville; four nieces, Peggy Gittings, of Tompkinsville, Susan Kay Stephens and Diana Smith, of Center and Connie Travis, of Owensboro; one nephew, Bennie Stephens, of Center; one great-niece, Angela (Jamie) Powell, of Irmo, S.C.; one great-nephew, Justin D. Smith, of Center; one great-great niece and nephew, Kylie and Kellen Powell, of Irmo, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Virgil “RV” Richardson, a nephew, Sammie Gittings, and a brother-in-law, Cornell Stephens.
Funeral service for Dorothy Richardson will be Thursday, May 15, at 1 p.m. at Yokley & Trible Funeral Home with Bennie C. Stephens and John Osgatharp officiating. Burial will be in Monroe County Memorial Lawn.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bennie C. Stephens, Ronnie D. Smith, Justin D. Smith, David L. Travis, Mark Williams, and Mark Geralds. Honorary pallbearers will be Peggy Gittings, Diana Smith, Connie Travis, Cecilia Stephens, Sheila Bryant, Paula Beth Gee, Dana Hammer, Joey Emmert, Willie White, Jerry Kerr and Jackie Head.
