Edna Mae White Collins
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Edna Mae White Collins, 69, of Indianapolis, Ind., died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was the daughter of the late Billy Jack White and Oma Farlee White.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Indianapolis.
She is survived by her children, Darrell Brooks, Morris Froedge, Teresa Froedge Sweat and Joanna Combs; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Michael Collins; and one son, Brian Swindle.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Joe Reed Downing
BOWLING GREEN – Joe Reed Downing, 74, of Bowling Green, formerly of Gamaliel, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Flippin, Ky., on July 28, 1937, to the late George Downing and Vernon Goodall Downing.
He was a retired pharmacist, a member of Gamaliel United Methodist Church, 50-year member of Tompkinsville Lodge 753, third-degree Scottish Rites, former chairman of Monroe County Medical Center Board, former member of Gamaliel Lions Club, Jaycees and Fire Department also a member of Kentucky and American Pharmacist Association.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jack Reed and Tracy Downing, of Alvaton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Lisa and Tim Murley, of Bowling Green, and Lori and Joe Murphy, of Gamaliel; one sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Jimmy Marshall Celsor, of Fountain Run; five grandchildren, Ty Downing, Brady Murley and wife Lacey, Joe Murley, Megan Roper and husband Josh, all of Bowling Green, and Billy Joe Murphy of Gamaliel; and one great-grandchild, Riley Elizabeth Roper.
He is also survived by his former wife, Judy Jackson Downing, of Gamaliel, who is the mother of his children, and former wife, Arlene Cloyd Downing, of Tompkinsville.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 29, at 3 p.m. at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel with burial to follow in Neal Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and after 7:30 a.m. on Sunday at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel.
