GLASGOW – Gene Nelson Lynn, 84, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital.
His arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
Erlene Jones Melhiser
OWENSBORO – Erlene Jones Melhiser, 88, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at The Palace in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn.
She was the wife of the late Archie Melhiser and daughter of the late Roy Jones and Charity Floyd Richman Jones.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel and from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday and after 10 a.m. on Saturday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Owensboro.
Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel and James H. Funeral Home in Owensboro are in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Sunrise Children’s Home.
Murile ‘Jack’ Powell
GLASGOW – Murile “Jack” Powell, 85, of Glasgow, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Barren County Health Care Facility in Glasgow.
Born in Allen County, he was the son of the late John and Lillie Hogue Powell. He was a farmer and a self-employed carpenter and was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Elmore Powell; one son, Stephen Powell and wife Brenda, of Haywood; two daughters, Yvonne “Bonnie” Collins and husband Lee Royce, of Glasgow, and Tina Woodson and husband Brian, of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Stacey Headrick and husband Adam, Jared Anderson and fiancée Danielle and Maggie Anderson; a great-grandchild, McKinlee Anderson; two step-grandchildren, Chris Hodge and wife Tracy and Kelly Hodge; and three step-great-grandchildren, Kayla, Joshua and Gabby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Powell Jr. and Harold D. Powell.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday.
Joseph Neal 'Joe' Stinson
GLASGOW – Joseph Neal “Joe” Stinson, 45, of Cub Run, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at his home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Stinson.
He is survived by his mother, Edwina Clemons Stinson, of Cub Run.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Saint Benedict Catholic Church with Father Brian Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Saint Benedict Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and on Friday from 8 to 10 a.m. at Sego Funeral Home.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to American Diabetes Association.
