GLASGOW — Alta Butler

CUB RUN – Alta Butler, 84, of Cub Run, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Caverna Memorial Hospital in Horse Cave.

She was the daughter of the late Shelby Butler and the late Eula Thompson Butler and the wife of the late Radford Butler.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Brooks Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Brother Carlon Fields and Brother Jack Srygler officiating. Interment will be at Munfordville Municipal Cemetery in Munfordville.

 

William F. ‘Bill’ Downing

FOUNTAIN RUN – William F. “Bill” Downing, 97, of Fountain Run, a native of Glasgow, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, in Tompkinsville.

He was the son of the late Dora (Key) Veach and husband of the late Ila Katherine Marler.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fountain Run Funeral Home with burial in Neal Cemetery, Flippin community, with full military honors by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. with Masonic service at 7 p.m.



Lillie Mae Gramlin

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Lillie Mae Gramlin, 78, died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at her home in Indianapolis with Hospice attending her needs.

A native of Morgantown, she was a daughter of the late Isom and Lillian Cardwell Evans and was a retired employee of Target. Lillie enjoyed her gospel music as well as writing songs. She was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed her time at Life Tabernacle Church.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth Gramlin (Linda), of Glasgow; one daughter, Shirley M. Ross (Randy), of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Charity Defabois, Nathan Ross and Tabbie Ross; four great-grandchildren, Jerimaih, Deanna, Dekota and Chrispher Defabis; one sister, Mable (Jim) Dickerson, of Indianapolis; and one brother, Jerry L. (Peggy) Evans, of Bowling Green.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie B. Gramlin; one sister, Goldie Evans; and three brothers, Bill Evans, Roy Evans and Raymond Evans.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at White Cemetery in Monroe County under the direction of Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

William Thomas (W.T.) Hare Jr.

BOWLING GREEN – William Thomas (W.T.) Hare Jr., 85, of Bowling Green, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.

The Barren County native was the eldest son of the late Thomas and Ellie Craighead Hare and the husband of the late Dorothy Branstetter Hare. He was preceded in death by his sister, Juanita Wingfield; son-in-law, Joe McGown; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Oliver Hare.

W. T. was a World War II veteran, who completed his military service as a guard during the Nuremberg Trials where war criminals were prosecuted. Returning to civilian life, he began a 35-year career with Holley Carburetor. Upon his retirement as Quality Assurance Specialist, W. T. helped his wife in the operation of H&H Sales, a local clothing store.

W.T. was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his family and friends and will be greatly missed by them.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda McGown; his son, Gary Hare (Julie); three grandchildren, Christi McGown Vickery (Garry), Samantha Hare Coplen (Ryan) and Matthew Hare (Connie); two great-grandchildren, Tabitha Hare and Paul Hare; two brothers, Elvin Hare (Carolyn) and Mitchell Hare (Covella); and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial at Bowling Green Gardens. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.



Rex High

LIBERTY – Rex High, 68, of Liberty Ky., formerly of Tompkinsville, passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, in Liberty.

Rex was born in Tompkinsville, on May 23, 1944, a son of the late Bernice Lucille (Yancy) and Glen High. He worked as a truck driver and was a Mason with the Burnside Lodge.

Rex is survived by one daughter, Glenda Sue Downey, of Jamestown; one son, Roger High, of Liberty; one sister, Roberta England, of Tompkinsville; two brothers, Rondall High, of Louisville, Robert Willis High, of Indianapolis, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at 2 p.m., at Yokley Trible Funeral Home. Visitation, Wednesday, from 5 to 9 p.m. and Thursday 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Bethlehem Cemetery.



Donald Louis Hopkins

SMITHS GROVE – Donald Louis Hopkins, 77, of Smiths Grove, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green

He was the son of the late Nathan Hopkins and Pearl Graves Hopkins, and husband of Lois Keown Hopkins.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wed. Dec. 5, 2012, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove Chapel, with burial in Merry Oaks Cemetery. Visitation is 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Alice Gertrude Brown, 92, of Indianapolis, Ind., died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.



LOUISVILLE — Bessie DeVore Clark, 92, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012. Her funeral is 10 a.m. EST Tuesday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, followed by a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. CST at Randolph Cemetery, Edmonton.



SUMMER SHADE — Henry Lee Forbis, 47, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at home. Gravesite services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at White Cemetery with burial to follow. Visitation will be at McMurtrey Funeral Home and continue until 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, when the funeral presession will make its way to the cemetery. GLASGOW — Ewing Palmore “Doc” Kingrey, 71, of Glasgow, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.



HORSE CAVE — Blanche Larimore, 98, of Horse Cave, died Saturday, Dec.1, 2012, at Caverna Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave, with burial to follow in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. until funeral time on Tuesday at the funeral home. BONNIEVILLE — Danny Ray Srygler, 48, of Bonnieville, died at 1:50 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home. Burial will be in Srygler Family Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Tuesday.



BONNIEVILLE — Mable Virginia Srygler, 91, of Bonnieville, died at 10:25 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at her home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memory Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.



GLASGOW — Connie Wood, 49, Glasgow, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Kosair Charities.
