Jean M. Decker
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Jean M. Decker was born May 29, 1935, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to Herman and Mae Matthews. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1953. She died on Nov. 13 of 2012.
Jean was married to Dale Decker on Dec. 25, 1953, in Glasgow, Kentucky. She was a Baptist and attended local services in Louisville.
She is predeceased by Herman and Mae Matthews, her mother and father; Ruth Hendricks, nee Matthews, Louise Vance, nee Matthews, her sisters; and Doug Matthews, her youngest brother. Her husband died in 1988.
She is survived by her children, Marsha Decker, of Louisville, and Doug Decker, of Los Angeles, California; a brother, Bill Matthews, of Bowling Green; and many nieces and nephews and other family members.
Jean retired from Mercer Meidinger, a healthcare actuarial company in 1989.
Jean was a philanthropist and volunteer, winning local awards for her outstanding community service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to AIM of Kentuckiana Inc. or to a favorite local charity.
A private memorial service to honor and celebrate Jean’s life will be held in 2013.
Nola Irene Duckworth
GLASGOW – Nola Irene Duckworth, 83, Glasgow, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
Arrangements are incomplete, but under the direction of Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home.
Christopher Allen Manion
LOUISVILLE – Christopher Allen Manion, 41, of Louisville, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
He was born in Glasgow and was a 1989 graduate of Glasgow High School. He graduated in 1994 from WKU majoring in chemistry and had been very active in the Baptist student union while at Western. He attended South East Christian Church in Louisville and was an avid runner, singer and actor, most recently appearing in the musical “Wicked” in Louisville. He was employed by AGRANA Fruit Products as their quality and food safety manager.
He is survived by his mother Elaine Manion, of Bowling Green; father, Benny Manion (Vickie), of Glasgow; sisters, Casey Edwards (Cory), of Glasgow, and Whitney Wilhelm (Paul), of Scottsville; a stepsister, Laura Hensley, of Harlan; grandmother, Jean Cox, of Glasgow; two nieces, Kinsey Edwards and Lori Ann Wilhelm; one nephew, Kale Edwards and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Boyd and Elaine Manion and his maternal grandfather, Allen Cox.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at A.F. Crow and Son Funeral Home with burial in Smith Cemetery at Sulphur Well. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 until 8 p.m.
