Linda V. Edwards
GLASGOW – Linda V. Edwards, 69, of Glasgow, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
The Barren County native was the daughter of the late Frill and Edith Short Adwell. She was a retired administrative assistant with the National Park Service, having retired from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and was a member of Hiseville Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, April London and husband John, of Glasgow, and Cindy Edwards-Mace and husband Dewayne, of Cave City; her companion, Oliver Saltsman, of Glasgow; seven grandchildren, Keith Crabtree with the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss, Texas, Colby Dale London, Autumn Rena Kuhns, Destiny Cheyenne Mace, Hunter Chase London, Brenna Makenzie Mace and Brylee Rain Mace; one great-grandson, Brantley Dale London; one brother, Gary Wallace Adwell and wife Donna Rena, of Cave City; and three nephews, Chris Adwell, Jason Adwell, and Kendall Adwell.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Cave City Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
SSG. John J. Faulkner
SMITHS GROVE – SSG. John J. Faulkner, of Smiths Grove, died at Gateway Hospital in Clarksville, Tenn. on March 24, 2013.
He was a retired U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He is survived by one son, Martin Faulkner, of Cordova, Alaska; two step-sons, Joe Davis, of Glasgow, and Steve Wilson, of Smiths Grove; one stepdaughter, Teresa Jeffries, of Oak Grove; four brothers, Ron and Harvey, both of Minnesota, Steve, of Wisconsin, and Tommy; two grandsons, three granddaughters, five great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Norma Jean Faulkner; one daughter, Cindy A. Faulkner; one grandson, Joseph Wilson; two sisters, Rose Pinion and Sherry Zong; and one brother, Robert.
Services will be private with family at Mr. Faulkner’s request.

Shirley Jean Peden
GLASGOW – Shirley Jean Peden, 71, of Glasgow, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at her home.
She was born in Metcalfe County, the daughter of the late Billy and Ruie Hurt Taylor. Shirley was a cashier for many years with Houchens and IGA Food Stores in Glasgow and was a member of Refuge Church of Christ.
She is survived by two daughters, Marla Gentry and husband Wayne, of Glasgow, and Donna McCandless, of Glasgow; seven grandchildren, Whitney Wood, Brandi and Kennedy Gentry, Shane and wife Kayla, Tyler, Lesley and Bradley McCandless; one great-grandson, Colby McCandless; one brother, Danny Taylor and wife Lolly, of Edmonton; a brother-in-law, Ben H. Williams, of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Peden; two brothers, Ronnie Lee and Freddie Taylor; and three sisters, Bonnie Williams, Patty Coffey and Donna Bell Taylor.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Neal’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Saturday.
Elise M. Tinsley
GLASGOW – Elise M. Tinsley, 79, of Glasgow, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at Bowling Green Nursing and Rehab in Bowling Green.
Her arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
BOWLING GREEN – Marty Delaney Brewer, 43, of Bowling Green, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery No. 2.
GLASGOW – Linda Faye Sheppard, 72, of Glasgow, died April 2, 2013, at Heritage Hospice in Marietta, Ga. after a battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS). Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Winn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be Saturday from noon until service time.
