GLASGOW — Nancy Gayle Norris

GLASGOW – Nancy Gayle Norris, 80, Glasgow, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Bernice B. Norris and Glayde Alexander Norris Priebe.

She was a retired licensed practical nurse, having worked at T.J. Samson Community Hospital, Graves-Gilbert Clinic, Kings’ Daughters Hospital, and the medical offices of Dr. Judy Richey at Howard Clinic in Glasgow. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Glasgow.

Survivors include three children: Charles W. “Wes” Rayburn, of Hagerstown, Ind.; Kathy Lee, of Glasgow; and J.B. Rayburn, of Seymour, Ind.; six grandchildren, including Brian Travis Cook, of Glasgow; two great-granddaughters; one sister, Anita Hiser, of Pekin, Ill.; one niece and one nephew of Pekin, Ill.

No formal service will be conducted. The family will be having a private celebration of her life at a later date.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Alzheimer’s Research or to BRAWA (Barren River Animal Welfare Association). Arrangements were entrusted to Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Martha Christine Bowman Oliver

WESTLAND, Mich. – Martha Christine Bowman Oliver, 81, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at her home in Westland, Michigan.

She was born May 5, 1931, at Rock Bridge in Monroe County and grew up at Freedom, Ky. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sue Jane (Miller) and Clarence Bliss Bowman and a grandson, Tom Oliver.

She was a member of Joy Baptist Church where she was the organist and was the pianist for the services at Saint Jude Nursing Home. She retired in 2001 after 33 years employment with Hudson’s Department Store.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Victor Maxey Oliver; son, Kenneth (Vicki); grandson, Timothy (Miken); granddaughter, Melissa; brother, Evans (Betty) Bowman, of Temple Hill; sister, Sue Carol Jaggers, of Glasgow; brother-in law, Reverend Gordon Larson, of Florida; and many nieces and nephews including Doris McKinley and Bill Marrs, of Glasgow, and Gerald Bowman, of Temple Hill.

In addition to her parents and grandson, she was preceded in death by a sister and husband, Inez and William Marrs; a sister, O’Neil Larson; and a brother-in-law, Leslie Jaggers Jr.

Visitation is at R.G. and G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Road, Livonia, Mich., Friday, Jan. 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Parkview Memorial Cemetery, Livonia, Michigan.
