GLASGOW — Robert Hurshel Jackson

RED BOILING SPRINGS, Tenn.– Robert Hurshel Jackson, 81, of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.

He was born Dec. 4, 1932, in Clay County, Tenn., to the late Clinton Jackson and Alice Lee Gillenwater Jackson. He was raised on a farm in the Mudlick community with his four brothers and four sisters. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1953 and spent the last 16 years of his 23 years of service at Malmstrom A.F.B., Montana, as a specialist with the Minuteman missile system. He was united in marriage on May 3, 1955, to Alice Ritter. He retired in 1974 moving his family to Union Hill, Tenn., where he was a farmer, business owner and person of influence within this community. He was a member of Red Boiling Springs Masonic Lodge #585 for more than 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Alice M. Ritter Jackson, of Red Boiling Springs; one son, Robert David Jackson, of Red Boiling Springs; three daughters, Janietta Lusk and husband Patrick, of Philadelphia, Pa., Angela Coons and Mary Alice Carroll and husband Tommy, all of Red Boiling Springs; one sister, Gloria Madline Martin, of Gallatin, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Jessica Hatcher, Elizabeth Lusk, Samatha Flowers and Mariah Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Tequila Hatcher and Andrew Reece; and four special grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Martin William Jackson, Meredith Clinton Jackson, Darrell Jackson and Jackie Lee Jackson; three sisters, Reva Janet Sturdeman, Merline Cady and Idelle Durham; one son-in-law, Tony Coons; and one grandson, Jackson Lusk.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 8, at 4 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with cremation to follow. Visitation will be after noon on Saturday until time of service at the funeral home.

Larry M. Johnson

BOWLING GREEN – Larry M. Johnson, 48, of Bowling Green, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.

He was the son of the late Curtis and Camilla Todd Johnson.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Howell-Johnson Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

 

Lynn Garner ‘Pete’ Jones

SMITHS GROVE –  Lynn Garner “Pete” Jones, 78, of Smiths Grove, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.

He was the son of the late Doyle Fay Jones and Wanza Myers Jones, who survives.

He was the husband of Emily Frances Sledge Jones.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove  Chapel, followed by burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

EDMONTON – James Curtis “Jimmy Curt” Duncan, 75, of Edmonton, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Butler Funeral Home with burial in Edmonton Cemetery.  



GAMALIEL – Modena Ford, 95, of Gamaliel, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Monroe Health & Rehab in Tompkinsville. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel followed by burial in Gamaliel Cemetery.
