GLASGOW — Lawrence T. Sullivan

LUCAS — Lawrence Sullivan, born Dec. 17, 1932, in Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., the son of James and Leila (Latta) Sullivan, died at his home on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013.

Larry was an U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a graduate of Michigan State University. He had a long journalism career including positions at Bluffton News Banner (Ind.), Ann Arbor News (Mich.), Newsday (N.Y.) and The Washington Post. In 1993, following 21 years as an editor at The Detroit News, he and his wife left Michigan and retired to Lucas.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a son, Frederick; former wife, Joy Damrow; brothers, Richard, Donald and Keith Edward; and sisters, Bettie Gordon and Laurie Parenti.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jean Kirsch; sons, Sean and James (June); daughter, Maureen Brennan (William); granddaughters, Katie, Jaz, Eli and Cathlin; and great-grandsons, Brennan and Myles; and one sister, Ann Thatcher.

No services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to BRAWA, Barren River Animal Welfare Association, 175 Trojan Trail, Glasgow, KY 42141.


CAVE‚ÄąCITY – Anna Katherine Hanson, 89, of Cave City, died on Sept. 11, 2013, at her home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cave City United Methodist Church with burial in Cave City Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Highland United Methodist Church Youth.

SCOTTSVILLE – James Gordon Williams, 73, of Scottsville, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, in Allen County.  

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Fountain Run First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Fountain Run Cemetery.
