Jessie Humes Chapman
TOMPKINSVILLE — Jessie Humes Chapman, 69, of 5854 Edmonton Road, Tompkinsville, passed away at 9:11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, while in the company of family members at Monroe County Medical Center.
Jessie was born in Tompkinsville on June 13, 1942, a daughter of the late Zelma Ruth (Ford) and William Mitchell Humes.
Jessie married Reggie Chapman on Sept. 2, 1961, at the Monroe County Courthouse. She worked as a housewife and was a member of Mount Poland Baptist Church since 1984.
Jessie is survived by her husband, Reggie Chapman; three sons, Toby (Lisa) Chapman of Tompkinsville, Tony (Lori) Chapman of Cub Run, Teddy (Robbie) Chapman of Tompkinsville; four grandchildren, Jessica Shaw, Nick Chapman, Will Chapman and Lauren Chapman; and one great-grandchild, Abigail Grace Shaw.
Jessie is also survived by two sisters, Katherine Nason of Tompkinsville, and Connie Sue McCalb of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn.; four brothers, Jesse James Humes of Tompkinsville, Darrell Ray Humes of Fountain Run, Jimmy Ralph Humes of Tompkinsille, and Reggie Ray Humes of Tompkinsville.
Jessie is preceeded in death by her parents Zelma Ruth (Ford) and William Mitchell Humes, one sister, Mary Dean Humes; two brothers Charles William and Roger Dale Humes.
Funeral services will be at Yokley Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, Thursday at 1 p.m. with Bro. Paul Strong and Bro. Michael Stinson officiating. Interment will be at Skaggs Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 6 a.m. until time of the service.

Virginia Inez Chapman Fendell
FRANKFORT — Virginia Inez Chapman Fendell, 101, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at Frankfort Medical Center, Frankfort. The Barren County native was the widow of Lee Fendell.
Funeral arrangements under the direction of Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, are incomplete.
James William Hendren
CUB RUN — James William Hendren, 81, of Cub Run formerly of Shepherdsville, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was retired from Ford Motor Company, a member of the UAW and a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He served during the Korean Conflict with the US Army.
He was the son of the late Raymond Hendren and the late Ruby Brown Hendren.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louise Hendren; two sons, Jimmy Hendren (Cindy) of Cub Run, Darrell Hendren (Bonita) of Upton; three granddaughters, April Hendren, Heather Hendren, Robin Hendren; and one great-granddaughter, Layla Hendren.
Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will be at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Funeral service will be at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Upton.
Buford ‘Woody’ Wood
BENTON — Buford “Woody” Wood, 90, of Benton, formerly of Glasgow, died Friday Aug. 12 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
He was the son of the late Buford Wood and the late Virgie Wells Wood.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Earl Wood.
Funeral services were at Collier Funeral Chapel in Benton on Aug. 14. Interment followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah with military rites.
