BOWLING GREEN — Larry Alton Cordell, 67, of Bowling Green, died Jan. 3, 2014, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
He was son of the late John Coleman Cordell and Gertrude Burkett Cordell and husband of LaDonna Whlechel Cordell, who survives
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. Burial was in Smiths Grove Cemetery. Visitation began at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Dixie June Durbin
CAVE CITY — Dixie June Durbin, 68, of Cave City, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
Funeral services, under the direction of Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, are incomplete at this time.
CAVE CITY — Sammy Fawns, 69, of Cave City, passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, in Morgantown.
The Covington native was born April 16, 1944, to the late Sammy Fawns Sr. and the late Ethel Murphys Fawns.
He was a crane operator for Cohen Brothers and a member of the National Guard and Cave City Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie J. Fawns of Cave City; one son, Sammy Fawns III (Mamie) of Park City; one stepson, Ralph Fox (Roberta) of Glasgow; two stepdaughters, Mary Ammons (Robert) of North Carolina and Peggy Gabbard (Tim) of Booneville; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sondra Fawns.
There will be no visitation or funeral services for Mr. Fawns.
Charles D. King
HORSE CAVE — Charles D. King, 86, of Horse Cave, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Hart County Health Care Center.
He was a native of Hart County, a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and a retired farmer, cattleman and livestock hauler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Davidson King, on Aug. 23, 2009; his parents, Golden King and Rebie Myers Hayes; and one sister, Marjorie Furlong.
Charles is surived by one son, Douglas King and his wife Diana, of Horse Cave; two daughters, Charla Sprouse and her husband Tom, of Smiths Grove, and Bonita King, of Louisville; one stepdaughter, Dorothy VanBrussel, of Louisville; four grandchildren, Buddy King, Travis King, Jennifer Oberhausen and Nedra Jurcak; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Schwab, of Eufaula, Ala.; one niece, Karen Benefield, of Eufaula, Ala.; and several cousins.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Friday.
