GLASGOW — Thomas Penn Edmunds

GLASGOW – Thomas Penn Edmunds, 83, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. 

A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Leonard and Maude Emerson Edmunds. He was a retired farmer and a member of Beckton Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter, Darlene Lawson, of Glasgow; three grandsons, Rodger Lawson Jr. and wife Hilarie of Mayfield,  Bradley Lawson and Brent Lawson and wife Charity, all of Glasgow; five great-grandchildren, Mallory, Isabella, Sophie, Annie and Kymber; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Walter, Charles, Judd, John and Henry Donald Edmunds; and four sisters, Sally Byrd Atkinson, Flora May Edmunds, Ada Mildred Buckingham and Betsy Jean Garrett.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Arrangements entrusted to the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Gracie Verneal Houchens Isenberg

LAMB – Gracie Verneal Houchens Isenberg, 79, of the Lamb community, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late Paige and Lindsey Ward Houchens. Mrs. Isenberg was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at Lamb.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin; two daughters, Pamela Berry and husband Mike, of Lamb and Jeanette Stumpenhorst and husband Tim, of Glasgow; a son, Stephen Isenberg, of Lamb; four grandchildren, Lindsey Berry, Nicholas Berry and wife Hannah, Morgan Neal Gentry and Madison Gentry. Two cousins also survive, Wannettia Deaton, of Indiana and Joe Taylor, of Louisville.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery.

 

Lou Carol King

TOMPKINSVILLE – Lou Carol King, 67, of Tompkinsville, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Monroe County Medical Center.

Carol was born in Tompkinsville on Feb. 10, 1946, a daughter of the late Velma Lucille (Pickerell) and Hascal Chapman. On Oct. 3, 1964, in Gainsboro, Tenn., she married Randall King, who preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at Yokley Trible Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, with John Osgatharp officiating. Visitation is Thursday after 2 p.m. and Friday 6 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Monroe County Memorial Lawn.



Carol S. Kjellmark

GLASGOW – Carol S. Kjellmark, 78, died Dec. 9, 2013, at Signature Healthcare in Nashville, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Anna Sorensen.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, at First United Methodist Church, 500 S. Green St., Glasgow, KY 42141. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church or Animal Shelter of Barren County.

 

Larry Thomas Poynter

CAVE CITY  – Larry Thomas Poynter, 57, of Cave City, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at University Hospital, Louisville.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hans Poynter, of Kansas; and his mother, Betty Poynter, of Cave City.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2,  at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in Campground Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 9 a.m. Thursday until time of services.



Averil Robert ‘Bob’ Wright Jr.

TOMPKINSVILLE – Averil Robert “Bob” Wright Jr., 87, of Tompkinsville, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

Bob was born in Pleasant Ridge, Mich., on March 22, 1926, a son of the late Christine Anna (Reisert) and Averil Robert Wright Sr. On July 31, 1964, he married Edna M. (Starcher) Wright, who survives him.

He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was discharged in 1946. He was a retired truck driver.

Bob is survived by eight daughters, Sarah (Jimmy) Wilborn, of Tompkinsville, Sally (Barry) Ethridge, of Tompkinsville, Tammy (James) Poore, of Tompkinsville, Donna Sue (Bobby) Turner, of Tompkinsville, Vicki Davis, of Louisville, Jill (Stanley) Wilborn, of Mount Hermon, Lisa (Bob) Birdsell, of Glasgow, and Claire (Jim) Volpert Williams, of New Albany, Ind.; seven sons, Odell (Connie) Hart, of Temple Hill, Michael (Cindy) Hart, of Mount Hermon, Mike Wright, of Jeffersonville, Ind., Mark (Stella) Wright, of Buckhannon, W.Va., Ralph Wright, of Louisville, Robert Wright III, of Arlington, Va., and Larry Wright, of Louisville. Bob is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by four sons, Ray Wright, Donald Lee Wright, James Hart and Billy Wright; one brother, Charles Wright, one grandchild, three great-grandchildren and two nephews.

Funeral services will be at Yokley Trible Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, with Paul Mills and Mark Kendall officiating. 

Visitation is in progress and will continue on Thursday from 6 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Drusilla Mae “Trudy” Bunnell, 87, of Panama City, Fla., formerly of Louisville, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2013. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.
