GLASGOW — Dixie (Stinson) Brown Adams

SCOTTSVILLE – Dixie (Stinson) Brown Adams, 75, of Scottsville, died at 9:04 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

The Lafayette, Tenn., native was a retired employee of Sumitomo, former employee of Dollar General and member of East End General Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, traveling and spending time with her church family. She was a daughter of the late Joseph Harvey Stinson and Anna McClard Stinson and wife of the late Junior Brown.

She is survived by her husband, Doug Adams, Fountain Run; one stepson, Kenny Adams, of Riverside, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Deanna Kim Bills and husband Ted, of Riverside, Calif., and Denise Kelly Glober and husband, Howard, of Seme Valley, Calif; one brother, Bobby Stinson, of Yorktown, Ind.; one sister, Carol Wilkerson and husband Freddie, Glasgow; one niece, Debbie Lehman and husband Mike, Muncie, Ind.; two nephews, Terry Stinson and wife Ida, Muncie, Ind., and Freddie Joe Wilkerson and wife Joynetta, of Glasgow.

She was preceded in death by one nephew, Joe “Shag” Stinson and one great-nephew, Justin Wilkerson.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Goad Funeral Home with Brother Donnie Goodrum and Brother Tony Green officiating and burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at Goad Funeral Home.

Leaner Mae ‘Lena’ Boards

GLASGOW – Leaner Mae “Lena” Boards, 64, of Glasgow, died at 10:43 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at her residence.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Goad Funeral Home with burial in Caney Fork Cemetery.

 

Drusilla Mae ‘Trudy’ Bunnell


PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Drusilla Mae “Trudy” Bunnell, 87, of Panama City, Fla., formerly of Louisville, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2013, while in a hospice facility in Marietta, Ga. She had recently moved with her daughter to Marietta in August of this year. She was born in Monroe County. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Paul Bunnell.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation at Winn Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until funeral time on Thursday.



Gracie Verneal Houchens Isenberg

LAMB – Gracie Verneal Houchens Isenberg, 79, of the Lamb community, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late Paige and Lindsey Ward Houchens. Mrs. Isenberg was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at Lamb.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin; two daughters, Pamela Berry and husband Mike, of Lamb, and Jeanette Stumpenhorst and husband Tim, of Glasgow; one son, Stephen Isenberg, of Lamb; four grandchildren, Lindsey Berry, Nicholas Berry and wife Hannah, Morgan Neal Gentry and Madison Gentry. Two cousins also survive, Wannettia Deaton, of Indiana, and Joe Taylor, of Louisville.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1,  at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Gene Lynn

GLASGOW – Gene Lynn, 84, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

He was the son of the late Lacy and Ellie Sears Smith Lynn. Gene was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a retiree of Ford Motor Company in Livonia, Mich., since 1983. He was a devoted and loving family man and loved the outdoors, including fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Fant Lynn; two daughters, Julia Hura and husband Larry, of Inkster, Mich., and Barbara Masterton and husband Dennis, of Wayne, Mich.; three grandchildren, Jarrod Hura, Corinna Johnson and husband Jim, and Jaime Hura; five great-grandchildren, Zachary Johnson, Kiera Hura, Jackson Johnson, Olivia Johnson and Braelyn Hura; two sisters, Wynona (Kenneth) Young and Marianna (Mike) Harlow; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and George Smith; and four sisters, Edna Smith Moore, Geneva Jones, Freda Graven and Rossie Patterson. He will be greatly missed and remembered always with our love.

A memorial service is being planned and will be announced at a later date. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Nancy Corinne Hale Pennington

BOWLING GREEN – Nancy Corinne Hale Pennington, 71, of Bowling Green, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at her residence.

She is the daughter of the late Avery Hale and Tommie Smith Hale. Nancy was a very family-oriented woman who loved her family dearly. She also enjoyed bowling and other family activities.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Ernest J. “Penn” Pennington, of Bowling Green; four children, George D. Pennington, and wife Lori, of Scottsville, Vinetta Pennington, Matt Murphy, Bowling Green, Ernest J. “E.J.” Pennington, II, wife Tammy, Bowling Green, and Elissa Moore, husband Mike, also of Bowling Green. Other survivors include five sisters; Dorothy Geralds Watson, husband Ray, Jane Adams, husband Raymond, Carolyn Adams, husband Billy, all of Tompkinsville, Lois Penders Upton, Bowling Green, Christine Thornton, Franklin; and one brother, John Hale, also of Tompkinsville; 13 grandchildren, Chuck, Jamie, Hollie, Cain, Dylan, Seth, Riley, Rhayna, Ava, Wayne, Amy, Sara and Katie; five great-grandchildren, Alex, Lexi, Kylie, Andrew and Adam; many nieces and nephews; and two granddogs, Tinley and Tinka.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Pennington Smith, four brothers and one sister.

Funeral service was Sunday, Dec. 29, at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Interment was at Bowling Green Gardens.

Larry Thomas Poynter

CAVE CITY – Larry Thomas Poynter, 57, of Cave City, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at University Hospital, Louisville.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hans Poynter, of Kansas, and his mother, Betty Gossett Poynter, of Cave City.

Funeral services, under the direction of the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, are incomplete at this time.



Jerry Pulley

CAVE CITY – Jerry Pulley, 66, of Cave City, passed away at his home with his loving family surrounding him.

The Owensboro native was in the restaurant business most of his life, having served as managers of the old Kountry Kitchen and Jerry’s Restaurant in Cave City and Caveland Golf Club Restaurant. He was also a route man for Tom’s Snacks, an employee of Cave City Comfort Inn and Suites, a former member of Cave City Fire Department, a member of Bearwallow Masonic Lodge #231 F & AM and a member of Cave City United Methodist Church.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Edith Wells Pulley, and a daughter, Melinda Diane Pulley.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Pulley, of Cave City; four sons, Jeremy Pulley and wife Shannon, of Brownsville; Jeff Reece and wife, Jennie of Glasgow; Scott Reece and wife Kim, of Munfordville, and Greg Reece and wife Christi, of Cave City; grandchildren, Cade, Ivan, Hadlie, Samantha, Savannah, Rodney and wife Bethany; great-grandchildren, Colton, Matthew and Jorgia; sister, Alisa Pulley, of Glasgow; brother, William Pulley and wife Tammy, of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Cave City Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home and will continue after 9 a.m. Tuesday until service time. A public Masonic service was conducted at the funeral home on Monday evening.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Cave City Volunteer Fire Department.



Delaine Bradshaw ‘Brad’ Rigney

RUSSELLVILLE – Delaine Bradshaw “Brad” Rigney, 36, of Russellville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at his residence.

He was the son of James and Brenda Rigney, born on Oct. 21, 1977, in Warren County. Brad was a custodian for the Logan County Board of Education and was a member of First Baptist Church of Bowling Green.

He is survived by his father and mother, James and Brenda Rigney; his brother, James Rigney II and wife Jamie; three paternal aunts and uncles; a maternal aunt and uncle, Sue and Neal Bradshaw; one niece, Mekenah Rigney; a nephew, Jackson Rigney; and three cousins.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, at Young Funeral Home, Russellville, with burial to follow in Russellville Memorial Gardens. Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and after 8 a.m. Wednesday until the funeral hour at 11 a.m.



Dollye Shives Simpson

LOUISVILLE – Dollye Shives Simpson, 92, of Louisville, formerly of Beaumont, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at the home of her daughter.

She was a daughter of the late Walter and Anna McCluskey Shives and was a member of Beaumont United Methodist Church. She retired from Handmacher Manufacturing after having worked there 34 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Tammy (Gary) Gibson, of Louisville; three grandchildren, Kyle and Caleb Gibson, of Louisville, and David (Patricia) Simpson, of Edmonton; three great-grandchildren, Haley and Erica Simpson and Ryder Knight; and her sister-in-law, Joyce Shives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edd Simpson; two sons, Michael Eddie and Charles Freddie Simpson; and her brother, Atwell Shives.

Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 28, at Beaumont United Methodist Church. Brother Joe Wilcoxson officiated. Burial followed in Beaumont Cemetery.

Memorials may be made at Beaumont Cemetery. McMurtrey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
