Charles L. ‘Cotton’ Cowles
BOWLING GREEN – Charles L. “Cotton” Cowles, 75, of Bowling Green, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at his residence.
The Warren County native was a son of the late Hughie and Christina Watt Cowles and preceded in death by a brother, Junior Cowles. He was owner-operator of several businesses. He was an Air Force veteran, a member of Smiths Grove Presbyterian Church, VFW and the American Legion. He loved people and loved having his family and friends around him.
Survivors include his wife, Dolly Cowles; his children, Bobby Cowles (Donna), Gina Cowles Skaggs, Stephanie Cowles; stepchildren, Lance Lesh, Triston Evans, Charlie Evans, Robert Evans, Kathy Warden; six grandchildren, Robert Cowles, Johnathan Cowles (Michelle), Andrew Ault, Caleb Skaggs, Sadie Skaggs, Heather Hood; six step-grandchildren, Erika Evans, Carson Evans, Garrett Evans, Parker Evans, Meredith Evans, Christian Lesh; three great-grandchildren, Micah Cowles, Elizah Cowles, Andrew Ault II; a sister, Kathleen “Pat” Harrod (Lionell); a special cousin who was closer than a brother, Larry Watt, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. – Jennifer Buss, 42, Surfside Beach, S.C., went home to be with the Lord at her home in South Carolina. She was born in Royal Oak, Mich., on April 9, 1971. She is the daughter of Jim and Betty Hogue Buss, of Loveland, Ohio, and was a licensed cosmetologist and beautician.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Christopher Buss and wife Kristen, of New York; a son, Bradley Buss and his fiancée Lena, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two grandchildren, Autumn and Jonathan Buss; one uncle, Henry Hitchcock and wife Mary, of Florida; five aunts, Peggy Hogue Fuller of Washington, D.C., Willowdean Hogue Fonner, Wanda Hogue Peavley and Josephine Hogue Shockley, all of Glasgow, and Ann Raj, of Stockdale, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alline and Orville Hogue, of Glasgow, and Ezra and Noe Buss, of New Hampshire; an uncle, James Hogue; and an aunt Faye Kingery, of Glasgow.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Evie Janelle Bartley Conkin
TOMPKINSVILLE – Evie Janelle Bartley Conkin, 83, of Tompkinsville, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at NHC in Glasgow.
She was the wife of the late Robert Marrs Conkin and daughter of the late Clyde Bartley and Vera Harlan Bartley.
Visitation will be after 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, and after 7:30 a.m. on Saturday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Liberty Cemetery in Tompkinsville.
