Edward Powell Mayfield
GLASGOW — Edward Powell Mayfield, 89, of Glasgow, died Friday November 3, 2006, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born in Barren County, the son of the late Adolphus Ellison Mayfield and Lucy Moss Mayfield.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Cletra Crabtree Mayfield. Mr. Mayfield was a retired Dairy farmer and was a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII and served in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter Saundra Harris and husband Ron of Glasgow; two stepchildren David Harris of Palmdale, Calif., and Stephanie Jarvis of Zion, Ill.; two sisters-in-law Ruth Shipley and Blanche Reneau of Glasgow; four stepgrandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Howard Baker Mayfield, a sister Lillian Manning and 2 infant sisters.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2006, at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Saturday from 4pm until 8pm and on Sunday from 8am until time for services.

Willo Dean Grimes
LOUISVILLE – Willo Dean Grimes, 80, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at Klondike Manor.
She was the former Willo Dean Payne, a native of Monroe County, a homemaker and a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Mud Lick.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Charles O. Grimes Jr.
She left behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Carol Sue Johnson (Don), and her son, Charles O. Grimes III (Donna); six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Geneva Wisdom, Athlene Thompson and Juanita French and many nieces and nephews.
Her service will be at noon Monday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, Louisville, with burial in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, noon until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Tana Lynn Clark Sester
MACKVILLE — Tana Lynn Clark Sester, 37, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at Hospice of Louisville. She is the daughter of Wanda and Jerry Clark and wife of Jason Paul Sester. Also surviving are her stepgrandparents, Bob and Marie Clark of Glasgow.
Funeral services were Oct. 15 at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, Louisville. Interment was in the Hebron Cemetery.
Robert ‘Bob’ Wood
GLASGOW – Robert “Bob” Wood, 92, formerly of Monroe County, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, at the NHC Healthcare in Glasgow.
He was born in Monroe County on Nov. 29, 1913, and was the son of the late Jesse Denton Wood and Dora Stewart Wood. He was a farmer and carpenter and a member and deacon of Beech Grove No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Estelle “Ted” Hale Wood, whom he married on Oct. 26, 1935; one son-in-law, Donald Headrick of Glasgow; a granddaughter and son-in-law, Beth and Jimmie Cochran of Glasgow; a grandson and fiance, Bobby Headrick and Jeanne Hayden of Hartford; great-grandchild, Cassandra Cochran of Glasgow; two brothers: Caleb Wood of Illinois, Omas Wood of Louisville; two sisters: Eva Chloe Schrecker of Clarksville, Ind., Velma Staples of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Billie Joel Wood; a daughter, Melva Jean Headrick; two brothers, Reed Wood and Dennis Wood; two half brothers, Charlie Wood and Yate Wood; two sisters, Eula Wood Goad and Ruby Rhoton; three half sisters: Hattie Wood Hale, Verdie Wood Simpson and Ernest Wood Proffitt.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Beech Grove No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church with Brothers Jerry Smith and Michael Stinson officiating. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday after noon at the Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville.
