BURKESVILLE — Kent Almon “Doc” Compton, 96, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at his home. He was the son of Melvin Otha and Lee Ann Thrasher Compton and husband of the late Juanita Grace Bull Compton. Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, Burkesville, with burial in The Leslie Cemetery. Alma Proffitt Dickerson GAMALIEL — Alma Proffitt Dickerson, 98, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at Monroe Health & Rehab Center in Tompkinsville. She was the daughter of the late Odis C. Proffitt Sr. and Roxie Belle England Proffitt and wife of the late John Ellis Dickerson. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Strode Funeral Home, Gamaliel Chapel, with burial in Gamaliel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Harmony Baptist Church. Doris Virginia (Conrad) Lopp CAVE CITY — Doris Virginia (Conrad) Lopp, 78, formerly of New Albany, Ind., died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. She was a native of Harrison Co., Ind., and currently resided in Cave City. She was a member of Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church in New Albany, and was retired as a tutor in the New Albany/Floyd County School System after 20 years. She was also employed at Rolling Hills Health Care Center in New Albany. Mrs. Lopp was a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 419 in New Albany. She is survived by her husband: Robert C. Lopp, Cave City; sons: Daniel Lopp, Homosassa, Fla., and Harold Lopp, Glasgow; daughters: Anna Ash, Dallas, Texas, and Robin Allen, Glasgow; a sister: Cora Jane Frakes, Central, Ind.; nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
