ARLINGTON, Texas — Chester E. Bass, 75, passed away Aug. 22, 2009, in an Arlington hospital. A memorial service was conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shepherd of Life Lutheran Church in Arlington. Chester was born in Edgar, Ill., on Feb. 2, 1934. He graduated from Veedersburg High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. Chester worked 30 years as a printer for R R Donnelley & Sons in Glasgow and Crawfordsville, Ind., and 10 years for Dollar General in Scottsville. He was loved and will be always missed by his family and friends. Donations may be made in Chester’s name to Community Hospice of Texas, 6100 Western Place #500, Fort Worth, TX 76107. Survivors include a daughter: Rhonda Banks and her husband, Dr. David Banks, DC, of Grand Prairie; sons: Mark Bass and his wife, Tari, of Amelia, Ohio, Tony Bass and his wife, Kim, of Chino Hills, Calif., and Joseph Bass and his wife, Holly, of Scottsville; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and other relatives. www.alternative-funeral-services.com Julia Mattingly GLASGOW — Julia Mattingly, 71, died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Born in Barren County, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Pauline Hargrove Mattingly. Miss Mattingly was a secretary for Mayor Luska Twyman and nutrition supervisor for T.J. Samson Community Hospital and member of the First Baptist Church in Glasgow. Survivors include three nephews: Bobby (Veronica) Mattingly of Lexington, Trevino Mattingly of Lexington and Timmy (LaDonna) Mattingly of Louisville; two nieces: Shanika Mattingly and Paula Ann Mattingly, both of Lexington; seven great-nieces and great-nephews: Sheafen, Destiny and Cameron Mattingly, Trevion Mattingly, Kareon Mattingly, Jon' Tay and Shaniyah Mattingly; sister-in-law: Charlotte Mattingly of Lexington; and a cousin: Carl Howard Martin of Glasgow. Funeral services for Miss Mattingly will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Barlow Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time for services at the funeral home. www.crowfuneralhome.com
