SMITHS GROVE — Ben B. Carbo, 88, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at his home. Arrangements are incomplete, but under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Gladys Ann Philpott HARDYVILLE — Gladys Ann Philpott, 75, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at Glenview Health Care in Glasgow. The Barren County native was the daughter of the late Claude and Lois Middleton Harvey and the widow of Amos Philpott. She and her husband owned and operated the LeGrande Market for over 30 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include a son: Billy Philpott, LeGrande; two daughters: Brenda Philpott, LeGrande, Sherry Norman, Cullman, Ala.; a sister: Marie Gossett, Cave City; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services with Earline Branstetter officiating will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in Cosby Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 until 8 p.m. today (Tuesday) and after 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of services. Online condolences may be signed at www.BobHuntFuneralChapel.com Rev. Elizabeth Jane Crandall Maxwell BOWLING GREEN — The Rev. Elizabeth Jane Crandall Maxwell, 93, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at Britthaven of Bowling Green. She was the daughter of the late Harry Crandall and Mary Duncan Crandall and wife of the late Rev. Murdock Thurman Maxwell. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in Falcon, N.C. Hardy & Son Funeral Homes Inc., Bowling Green Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
