TOMPKINSVILLE — Robert M. Conkin, 81, died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at the Monroe County Medical Center. He was the son of the late Clarence Conkin and Kate Marshall Conkin and husband of Evie Bartley Conkin. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the Liberty Methodist Church, with burial in the Liberty Cemetery. Clara L. Cook AURORA, COLO — Clara L. Cook, 104, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Denver Hospice of Aurora, Colo. Formerly of Tompkinsville, she was the daughter of the late Henry Wadsworth Johnson and Emma White Johnson. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Tompkinsville, with burial in the Mt. Poland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Strode Funeral Home. Garland Junior Gentry GLASGOW — Garland Junior Gentry, 77, died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Glasgow Health and Rehab Center. He was born in Monroe County the son of the late Ulysses S. and Beatrice Turner Gentry. Junior was a farmer and livestock hauler and was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Roberta Piper Gentry; step-mother Mary Edith Anderson Gentry of Mt. Hermon; 2 daughters Linda Combs (Bobby) and Gena Hagan (Jerry) both of Glasgow; 5 sons Roger Gentry (Linda), Kenny Gentry (Cindy) and Kevin Gentry (Judy) all of Glasgow, Maxey Gentry (Traci) of Tompkinsville and Donnie Gentry of Nashville; two stepsons Mark Piper (Patti) of Wisconsin and Rick Piper (Linda) of Bardstown; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren; 2 brothers J.T. Gentry (Shirley) of Jeffersontown, KY and Clifton Gentry (Rena) of Tompkinsville; 2 sisters Christine Turner of Tompkinsville and Abbie Combs (Randy) of Glasgow and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Nelda Earlene Geralds Gentry, a brother Stanley Gentry and a grandson Thomas Scott Gentry. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Monday, July 7, at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm Sunday. www.crowfuneralhome.com
