Evie Inez Birdwell Copass
EAST PEORIA, Ill. — Evie Inez Birdwell Copass, 87, formerly of Tompkinsville, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at her daughter’s residence in East Peoria.
She was the daughter of the late John Birdwell and Dora Stewart Birdwell and wife of the late Joshua “Jake” Copass.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 3, at 11 a.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial in Sid Yokley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Shurilda J. ‘Pee Wee’ Harrison Embry
BONNIEVILLE — Shurilda J. “Pee Wee” Harrison Embry, 80, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at her daughter’s residence in Elizabethtown.
She was the daughter of the late Frank Thompson and the late Mollie Thompson. Survivors include her husband, Joe Embry, of Bonnieville.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 3, at Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, with interment in St. Benedict Cemetery in Wax. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Billy Joe Jackson
GLASGOW — Billy Joe Jackson, 70, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at his home.
He was born in Barren County, the son of the late Jim and Gracie Lane Jackson. He was a former well driller and an employee of L.L. Morris Supply Co. and Wes Lowe Enterprises.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Gentry Jackson; five sons: David Jackson and special friend Paula of Glasgow, Kenny Jackson and wife Carisa of Glasgow, Joe Dale Bean of Glasgow, Joe Davis of Glasgow, and Terry Waters and wife Linda of Cincinnati, Ohio; one daughter: Connie Waters of Florida; two brothers: David Lee Jackson and Jerry Jackson, both of Glasgow; a sister: Judy Poynter of Glasgow; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Rondal Jackson; a sister, Nellie Wilson; and a grandson, Joseph Davis.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.

O.D. Kirk
TOMPKINSVILLE — O.D. Kirk, 85, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at the Monroe Health and Rehab Center in Tompkinsville.
He was the son of the late Willie Frank Kirk and Jane Graves Kirk.
Survivors include two daughters: Barbara Graves and Anna Johnson.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial in Mount Nebo Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home.

Doris K. Salmon
ANDERSON, Ind. — Doris K. Salmon, 83, formerly of Frankton, Ind., died Monday, June 29, 2009, at Manor Care Nursing Facility in Anderson, Ind.
Doris was born on April 24, 1926, in Burkesville, she was the daughter of the late JT Hendrick and the late Sara (Wells) Hendrick. She married Charles S. Salmon on Aug. 4, 1953, and he survives. Doris owned and operated Doors’s Beauty Shop for many years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Salmon of Anderson, Ind.; three stepdaughters: Judy and husband Robert Collins of Anderson, Ind., Carol and husband Mike Whetsel of Frankton, Ind., Janice and husband Ray Witcher of Anderson, Ind.; one stepson: Randy Salmon of Frankton, Ind.; two sisters: Lucille Garrett of Frankton, Ind., Lorene and husband Peter Mroz of Anderson, Ind.; two brothers: Thomas and wife Mildren Hendrick of Anderson, Ind., Estel and wife Dana Hendrick of Summitville, Ind.; sister-in-law: Ann and David Elliott of Witchita, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Elbert, Fred, Roy and Elvis Hendrick; three sisters, Hettie Wilson, Bertha McCune and Irene Garmon.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, at Moore Springs Cemetery in Edmonton, with her stepdaughter, the Rev. Carol Whetsel, officiating. Visitation will be Friday, July 3, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home, 305 Sigler St., Frankton, Ind. 46044.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes or Alzheimers Association.

James Cleo Shirley
GLASGOW — James Cleo Shirley, 91, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at the Glasgow Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was the son of the late Corbitt and Clara (Clark) Shirley.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 1, at 1 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home with interment in the Summer Shade Cemetery.

CAVE CITY — Virginia Lee Jolly, 78, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009, at the Hart County Health Care Center. Funeral services will be today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave, with burial in the Cave City Cemetery.
