Cecil Quenton Johnson
GLASGOW Cecil Quenton Johnson, 89, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, in Glasgow.
He was born in Dover, Tenn., to the late Wayman W. and Orpha Hall Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a businessman of Glasgow and was respected and loved by many families and friends. He was a deacon and former secretary and chairman of the board of the First Christian Church. He was a Marine veteran of the South Pacific during World War II. He loved all sports, always played to win, and was an All-State basketball player in 1937.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lucille W. Johnson; daughter: Marilyn J. Gettys; son-in-law: Norbert P. Gettys; grandsons: Travis J. (Julie) Gettys, Trevor L. (Sharon) Gettys, and Rafe A. Gettys; great-grandson: Samson T. Gettys; brother-in-law: Otha Billingsley; several nieces, nephews and other family members.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2009, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Rouble C. Lawrence
SMITHS GROVE Rouble C. Lawrence, 76, died Monday, June 1, 2009, at NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow.
He was born in Barren County, the son of the late Wade and Helen Russell Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence was a concrete finisher for Hunt's Paving Company and enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and antiques.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma; one step daughter: Paulette Staples of Glasgow; five step-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, M.J. Lawrence; three sisters, Louise Haynes, Betty Ritter and Janie Ritter; and a step-son, Lee Huffman.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

Ricky Dale Layport
GLASGOW Ricky Dale Layport, 53, died May 30, 2009, at his residence.
He was a Warren County native, the son of the late Howard Orvell Layport and Jeanie Smith Moore of Glasgow, who survives. Mr. Layport was employed as a truck driver for AAA Cooper Transportation.
He is survived by two sisters: Vickie Elmore and her husband, Nicky, of Bee Spring, and Monty Glass and her husband, Bobby, of Riverside; a brother: Mickey Layport and his wife, Helen, of Bowling Green; also several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. Burial will be in Smiths Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Dorothy C. Lyons
EDMONTON Dorothy C. Lyons, 79, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Metcalfe Health Care Center in Edmonton.
She was the daughter of the late Horace D. Jessie and Harriet Nonie Bragg Gills and wife of the late Arnie Lyons.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 3, at 2 p.m. at Fairfield Community Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Edes Perkins Nunn
SUMMER SHADE Edes Perkins Nunn, 99, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Metcalfe Health Care Center in Edmonton.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Delia Witty Perkins. She was a homemaker and retired from the Kentucky Pants factory in Glasgow. She was a member of the Summer Shade Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 5, at the Summer Shade Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
She is survived by three children: Jack (Lois) Nunn of Glasgow, Brenda (Paul) Dicken of Campbellsville and Neda (Boyd) Alexander of Burkesville; a daughter-in-law: Betty Nunn of Summer Shade; 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Nunn; two sons: Jerry and James Donald Nunn; one daughter: Rosetta Shirley; a grandson: Steven Nunn,; four brothers and three sisters.

Anna Mae Smith
EDMONTON Anna Mae Smith, 70, died June 1, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
She was born Feb. 5, 1939, in Kentucky, the daughter of William Firkins and Opal Jessie Firkins.
Anna Mae worked as a factory worker for Sorenson Corporation. She was a member of South Edmonton Church of Christ.
Surviving are husband, Oakley H. Smith of Edmonton; son, Dwight Smith of Edmonton, and son, David Smith of Edmonton; granddaughter, Tiffany Smith of Edmonton; and daughter-in-law, Tami Smith of Edmonton.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by sister, Carlotta Huber; sister, Velma Blankenship; father, William Firkins; and mother, Opal Firkins.
Services will be held at Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Edmonton on June 4, 2009, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens, Edmonton.
Visitation will be at Butler Funeral Home, Edmonton, today (Wednesday) from 2 until 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Thursday.

Dexter Thomas
FRANKFORT Services for Dexter Thomas, 94, will be at noon Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Hughes Funeral Home, Fountain Run, with burial in the Fountain Run Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Thomas died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.
He was the son of the late Shelby Thomas and Lora Clay Thomas and husband of the late Annie Belcher Thomas.
