Roy L. Burks
FOWLER, Ind. — Roy L. Burks, 78, formerly of Earl Park, Ind., died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at 6:29 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette, Ind.
He was born May 21, 1929, in Freedom, Ky., the son of the late Erastus and Lorena (Davis) Burks and was a graduate of Temple Hill High School.
He married Betty “Sue” Viggers in 1947 in Munfordville, and she survives.
Mr. Burks farmed for 35 years in the Benton County area. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kentland and the Benton County Country Club at Fowler. He enjoyed golfing and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Tim (Cheryl) Burks of Kentland; three daughters, Sherry (Greg) Silvers of Fowler, Sheila Donohue of Fowler, and Jenny (David) Hall of Lafayette, Ind.; a sister, Phoebe (Billy Joe) Peden of Townsend, Tenn., survives as do grandchildren Michael (Chris) Spangler of Rensselaer, Ind., Doug (Dana) Spangler of Fowler, Brent (Amanda) Spangler of Fowler, Carmen (Brian) Flook of Earl Park, Cory (Hayley) Donohue of Seymour, Ind., Kayla and Tanner Hall of Lafayette, Ind., and Brian Silvers of Fowler. Eleven great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dana Sue Spangler; two brothers and a sister.
Cremation rites were accorded. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. (CST) Friday, May 2, 2008. at the First Baptist Church of Kentland. A funeral service will be held at the church at 11 a.m. (CST) Saturday, May 3, 2008, the Rev. Bill Hall and the Rev. Larry Schuringa officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Blue Ridge Cemetery near Raub.

Johnny Lee Combs II
GLASGOW — Johnny Lee Combs II, 21, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the UofL Hospital in Louisville.
He was born in Louisville, the son of Johnny Lee and Rebecca Sue Wilson Combs of Glasgow, who survive. He was an employee of Dana Corporation and a member of the Dover Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiancee, Emily Judd of Glasgow; three sisters: Vanessa Peterson (Marvin) of Horse Cave, Tonia Harris (Aaron) of Bowling Green, Vickie Shobe (Gus) of Glasgow; three brothers: Preston Ennis (Angela), Brian Combs (Amanda) and Timmy Combs (Tiffany), all of Glasgow; maternal grandmother, Vetra Wilson of Glasgow; paternal grandmother, Laverne Combs of Glasgow; 10 nieces, four nephews and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and continue Friday morning until time for services.

Agnes Ford
TOMPKINSVILLE — Agnes Ford, 84, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at The Palace in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn.
She was the daughter of the late Arthur James Coley and Verna Etta Birdwell Coley and wife of the late Van Tooley.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with burial in Mount Poland Cemetery. Visitation begins at noon today at the funeral home.
Verna Ruth Pickett Morgan
GLASGOW — Verna Ruth Pickett Morgan, 91, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Lucy Bowles Pickett. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include four sons, Leonard (Shirley) Morgan of Glasgow, James Morgan of Boston, Ky., Richard Morgan of Bloomfield, and Michael (Jan) Morgan of Glasgow; two daughters, Shelby (Rondal) Bush of Glasgow, and Carolyn (Bryant) Sturgeon of Cave City; 10 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Tina (David) Burton of Westmoreland, Tenn., Douglas (Patricia) Bush and Kelly (Janet) Sturgeon, all of Glasgow, Jamie (Brandon) Shirley of Cave City, Chris (Stephanie) Morgan of Louisville, Angela Durham of Chaplin, Ky., Scott Morgan and Kasey Morgan of Boston, Ky., Sara (Kelly) Russell, John Michael (Kara) Morgan, Jeff Hale and Kelly (Chris) Pinkel, all of Glasgow; eight great-grandchildren, Quentin Burton, Cody Bush, Kelsey Sturgeon, Tyler Shirley, Logan Durham, Molly Durham, Bailey Morgan and Madlyn Morgan; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Morgan; one daughter-in-law, Virginia Mills Morgan; one step-granddaughter, Ginger Beckner; three sisters, Mattie Pickett, Mae Crawford and Ada Polson; three brothers, Paul Pickett, Raymond Pickett and Hall Pickett; one half-sister, Mamah McCoy; three half-brothers, Harry Pickett, Willie Pickett and Amos Pickett.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Michael Anthony Poteet
GLASGOW — Michael Anthony Poteet, 45, formerly of Glasgow, died Monday, April 28, 2008, in Oakland City, Ind.
He was the son of Barbara Franklin Poteet and the late John Clinton Poteet Jr. and a member of the Grider Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Charlotte; two daughters, Ashley Poteet and Amber Poteet of Cave City; two step-daughters, Stephanie Sebrasky of Ohio and Danielle Coats of Cave City; one grandson, D.J. Miller; one brother, Johnny Poteet of Glasgow; three sisters, Rita Wilson of Indiana, Karen Elmore of Temple Hill and Christie Mosby Creek of Glasgow; five step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Barbara Sexton
NASHVILLE, Ind. — Barbara Sexton, 68, died Monday, April 28, 2008, in Indiana.
She was the daughter of the late Rollin and Pauline Brown Oakes.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Pink Ridge Cemetery at Sulphur Well. Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Indiana is in charge of arrangements.

CLINTON, Tenn. — Margaret Vance Anderson, 90, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2008. Funeral services were at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, Tenn. Mrs. Anderson will be laid to rest at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery on Friday. A receiving of friends will be held at Hatcher Saddler Funeral Home from noon until 1 p.m. on Friday with interment following. Memorials for Mrs. Anderson may be sent to Green McAdoo Cultural Center, 101 School St., Clinton, TN 37716; or Friends of the Clinton Public Library, 118 South Hicks St., Clinton, TN 37716. GLASGOW — Eddie Louis “Roscoe” Williams, 53, died Monday, April 28, 2008, at his home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Queens Chapel Baptist Church with burial in the Lou Green Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home and at Queens Chapel Baptist Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time for services.
