Avis Orene Edwards
SULPHUR WELL — Avis Orene Edwards, 92, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Metcalfe County Health Care in Edmonton. She was the daughter of the late Basil and Oma Jeffries Atwell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Covy Edwards.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Butler Funeral Home, Edmonton, with burial in the LDS Cemetery at Sulphur Well. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Alice Harlan Hale
TOMPKINSVILLE — Alice Harlan Hale, 87, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at the Monroe Health & Rehab Center, Tompkinsville.
She was the daughter of the late John Wesley (Cap) Harlan and Arla Thompson Harlan and wife of the late George Clyde Hale.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial in the Mount Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
James A. Lewis
GLASGOW — James A. Lewis, 89, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his residence.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but are under the direction of the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
Laura Mae Lyons
GLASGOW — Laura Mae Lyons, 73, died Monday, April 7, 2008, at her residence.
Born in Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Panzy Lucille Nichols Morgan. Mrs. Lyons was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include four sons: Billy Matthews (Linda) of Park City, David Long of Cave City, Jeff McCluskey of Glasgow and Timmy McCluskey of Glasgow; four daughters: Carolyn Brooks (Roger) of Cave City, Brenda Sherman of Horse Cave, Debra Matthews of Glasgow and Antonia Matthews McCluskey of Cave City; 21 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, three sisters: Helen Hagan of Hartford City, Ind., Loretta Jenkins (Bob) of Hartford City, Ind., Earlene Speidel (James) of Hartford City, Ind.; one brother: Richard Shirley (Buck) Morgan of Glasgow.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Matthews; three brothers, Donald William Morgan, Raymond Morgan Jr. and Roger Eugene Morgan.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at the funeral home.

Nora Borders Williams
GLASGOW — Nora Borders Williams 88, died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late Galin Harlin Borders and Lucy Kinslow Borders. She was a member of the Pleasant Home Baptist Church. Mrs. Williams was retired from Riherd's Sport Shop and was a former employee of Handmacher.
She is survived by two step-daughters, Marcus Kingrey and husband Terrell, Doris Furlong and husband Eddie; one step-son Lennis Williams and wife Sharon, all of Glasgow; four step-grandchildren, Jamie Burgess and husband John, Amy Wyatt and husband Steven, Ryan Kingrey and Nicholas Williams; and two step great-grandchildren, Abbigail and Briar Wyatt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Joe B. Williams; first husband, Ewell Morrow; sister, Lucille Whitney; and two brothers, Wendell and Glen "Pete" Borders.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.

BOWLING GREEN – Memorial services for Margaret Barnes who died on March 21, 2008, and her daughter, Kimberly Barnes, who died Aug. 12, 2006, will be Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m. at New Home Baptist Church on Highway 70 in Edmonson County with visitation beginning at noon. Burial will be in Dit Vincent Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
TOMPKINSVILLE – Mrs. Dottie Smith, 50, died Friday, April 4, 2008, at her home. Memorial service will be at 4 p.m. today at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home. Cremation was chosen. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
