Luna Perkins Lowe

HORSE CAVE — Luna Perkins Lowe, 94, passed away at 11:05 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2008, at her home.

She was a Hart County native, a homemaker, a member of the Center Church of Christ and attended many congregations with her minister husband, the late R.S. (Bob) Lowe.

She was a daughter of the late Thomas T. Perkins and Genie Montgomery Perkins and was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Perkins, and twin sisters, Bernice Davis and Gladys Harlow.

Survivors include a daughter: Martha Lowe Cyphers and husband, Willie, Hardyville; a son: Daryl Lowe and wife Paula, Hardyville; four grandchildren: Todd Cyphers and wife, Leigh Ann, Nashville, Craig Cyphers, Bowling Green, Amber Lowe Jones and husband Alex, Nashville, Tyler Lowe, Hardyville; one great-grandson: Garrett Cyphers, Nashville; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Winn Funeral Home Chapel, Horse Cave, with burial in Cosby Cemetery.  

Visitation will be today from 1 until 8 p.m. and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Rose Greer Mills

HISEVILLE — Rose Greer Mills, 79, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

She was born in New Brunswick, N.J., the daughter of the late Harry and Sarah Tompkins Greer. She was also preceded in death by her husband Howard Thomas Mills Sr. Mrs. Mills was an LPN and employed by the Barren County Health Care Facility for 23 years. She was a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son: Howard Mills Jr. and wife Gladys of Radcliff; four daughters: Rose Mills of Horse Cave, Rebecca Kimbel and husband Darrell of Jackson, Tenn., Melissa Dennis of Louisville and Paula Ruth Tyree and husband Eric of Glasgow; one sister: Glendora Cottrell of Somerset, N.J.; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mill's had chosen cremation and a private services with her family. Arrangements are under the direction of the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to BRAWA (Barren River Animal Welfare Assn.), 175 Trojan Trail, Glasgow, KY 42141.

Charles Madison Short

GLASGOW — Charles Madison Short, 78, died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at his home.

Born in Barren County, he was the son of the late Charles Matthew Short and Lillian Sturgeon Short. Mr. Short was a farmer and a retired employee for the state of Kentucky as a light equipment operator.

Survivors include two daughters: Charlene Reece (Danny) of Glasgow and Betty Jo Short of Scottsville: two sons: Charles Madison Short Jr. (Lori) of Glasgow and Joseph Payton Short of Scottsville: three sisters: Mildred Cooksey of Tracy, Earlene Jordan of Fountain Run and Ailene Pedigo of Bowling Green. Five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Duvall, Dixie Mae Short and Willia Mae Short; two brothers, Hubert Short and Woodrow Short.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation began at 11 a.m. at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

SERVICES

BOWLING GREEN – Memorial services for Margaret Barnes who died on March 21, 2008, and her daughter, Kimberly Barnes, who died Aug. 12, 2006, will be Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m. at New Home Baptist Church on Highway 70 in Edmonson County with visitation beginning at noon. Burial will be in Dit Vincent Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

COLUMBIA - Glenn David Keltner, 56, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital Emergency Room in Glasgow. Funeral service will be today at 2 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia with interment in the Keltner-Parnell Cemetery at Keltner with military honors presented by Columbia VFW Post 6097. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Keltner-Parnell Cemetery Fund, c/o Ramona Murrell, 1910 Maple Hill Church Road, Greensburg, KY 42743, or the Seventh Day Adventist Elementary School, P.O. Box 597, Columbia, KY 42728.

TOMPKINSVILLE – Mrs. Dottie Smith, 50, died Friday, April 4, 2008, at her home. Memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home. Cremation was chosen. Visitation will be after 7 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
