NIOTA, Tenn. — The Rev. Dillard Hagan, 84, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 25, 2008, at Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens, Tenn. He was a native of Tompkinsville and a resident of McMinn County for 30 years. He was a son of the late Bascal Hagan Sr. and Effie Carlock Hagan. In 1937, at the age of 13, he made a profession of faith, was ordained into the gospel ministry on Oct. 1, 1946, by the Millcreek Baptist Church, Tompkinsville, and had served in the ministry for 57 years. The Rev. Hagan pastored the First Baptist Church, Friendsville, Tenn., Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church, Knoxville, Tenn., McPhertes Bend Baptist Church, Church Hill, Tenn., First Baptist Church, Kutawa, Beaumont Avenue Baptist Church, Knoxville, Tenn., Buffalo Trail Baptist Church, Morristown, Tenn.; Forest Hills Baptist Church, Maryville, Tenn.; First Baptist Church, Philadelphia, Tenn.; North Athens Baptist Church, Athens, Tenn.; White Plains Baptist Church, Scottsville; Indian Creek Baptist Church, Flippin; Rogers Creek Baptist Church, Athens, Tenn.; and New Bethel Baptist Church, Etowah, Tenn. He attended Campbellsville University, Clear Creek Baptist Church, Pineville; Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville; and Andersonville Baptist Seminary, Andersonville, Ga. He held a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Divinity, Masters of Theology and a Doctor of Ministry degree. Survivors include his wife, Martha Britt Hagan of Athens, Tenn.; a daughter: Libby Hagan and Lori Fleener of Lenoir City, Tenn.; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Sue Tinney Hagan of Harrison, Tenn.; granddaughters: Beth and Brittany Hagan of Chattanooga, Tenn.; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ronald and Ruby Nell Hagan of Tompkinsville, George Frank and Alise Hagan of Campbellsville, Bascal Jr. and Velma Hagan of Glasgow; sisters and brother-in-law: Doris Reecer of Gallatin, Emma Jean and Riley Tyree of Glasgow, and Blanche Hagan of Edmonton; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2008, at Niota First Baptist Church. A second service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Temple Baptist Church, Powell, Tenn. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2008, at Lynnhurst Cemetery in Knoxville. The Rev. Gary King, The Rev. Mike Farmer, the Rev. Tim Davis and Dr. Clarence Sexton will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Niota prior to the service and from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Temple Baptist Church, Powell, prior to the service. Pallbearers will be nieces and nephews. All ministers will serve as honorary pallbearers. Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of arrangements. Judy Francis Burton GLASGOW — Judy Francis Burton, 58, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital. She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late John Huff and Earline Keaton Logsdon of Horse Cave, who survives. She was a homemaker and was a Baptist. In addition to her mother, survivors include one daughter: Patricia Ann Neal (Coy) of Knob Lick; two sons: Richard Burton (Annette) of Smiths Grove and Robert Burton of Glasgow; two sisters: Molly Hodge of Smiths Grove and Marie Smith of Indianapolis, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Effie Huff.
