Toby Douglas Reneau

GLASGOW — Toby Douglas Reneau, 30, died Saturday, March 15, 2008, as a result of an automobile accident in Barren County.

He was born in Glasgow and was a 1996 graduate of Barren County High School. He was an electrician and was employed by Smith Electric. In his earlier years, he had attended the Temple Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed boating and raising his cattle.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Jessie Reneau; one daughter: Kayleigh Brook Reneau; two sons: Alec Douglas and Isaac Blake Reneau; his parents: Larry and Debbie Davidson Reneau of Glasgow; two brothers: Chase Reneau (Jessica) of Bowling Green and Dusty Reneau who is serving with the U.S. Army in Iraq; his grandfather: Stanley Reneau of Glasgow; mother-in-law: Linda Burkeen (Brian) of Kansas City, Mo.; father-in-law: Marty Jessie (Connie) of Louisiana; brother-in-law: Brad Jessie (Kelly) of Louisiana; and four nieces: Olivia and Sophia Reneau and Chloe and Kelsey Jessie.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Edna Reneau and Wallace and Juanita Davidson; and a great-great-uncle, Edwin Moore.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, Glasgow, with burial in the Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. today.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a trust fund to benefit his children at either the South Central Bank or the Edmonton State Bank.

James A. Staples

GLASGOW — James A. Staples, 69, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

Mr. Staples was an employee of the Barren County Sheriff's Department.

His arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.



Lovell G. Wilson

Katherine Wheeler Wilson

GAMALIEL — Lovell G. Wilson, 80, and Katherine Wheeler Wilson, 78, passed away Monday, March 17, 2008, as the result of a single-vehicle accident in Monroe County.

Lovell was born Nov. 17, 1927, in Macon County, Tenn., to the late Comer and Virgie Ford Wilson. Katherine was born Nov. 28, 1929, to the late Richard Odell and Bessie Dyer Wheeler. They were members of New Liberty General Baptist Church and Lovell was a deacon and Katherine was church clerk for 30-plus years.

They are survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: George and Glenda Wilson and Doyle and Connie Wilson, both of Gamaliel; one daughter: Janie Crowe of Tompkinsville; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.

Lovell Wilson is survived by five brothers: Roy Wilson of Fountain Run, Larry Wilson of Lafayette, Tenn., Harold Wilson of Indianapolis, Ind., Darrell and Denzil Wilson, both of Rensselaer, Ind; and one sister: Shirley McLeary of Lafayette, Tenn.

Katherine Wilson is survived by two brothers: James R. Wheeler of Gamaliel, Jerry Wheeler of Louisville; two sisters: Dixie Doyle of Kokomo, Ind., and Nina Holt of Indianapolis, Ind.

In addition to their parents, they were preceded in death by two daughters, Donna Wilson and Peggy Wilson Turner; and a son-in-law, John Crowe.

Lovell was preceded in death by two brothers: Ford and Stanton Comer Wilson. Katherine was preceded in death by one brother: Thomas Ray Wheeler; and two sisters: Belva Shockley and Virginia Lee.

Joint funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. at the New Liberty General Baptist Church with burial in the Rocky Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel, after 2 p.m. today.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in the form of donations to the New Liberty General Baptist Church Building Fund. They may be made at the funeral home, or mail them to: Strode Funeral Home, 204 Columbia Ave., Tompkinsville, KY 42167.



Deborah Lynn Page

TOMPKINSVILLE — Deborah Lynn Page, 51, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the Monroe County Medical Center, Tompkinsville.

She was the daughter of Randall Eagle Page of Tompkinsville and the late Emma Jean Gettings Page.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial in Center Point Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Isenberg Cemetery.



Mary Jo Buford Patrick

RIVERDALE, Ga. — Mary Jo Buford Patrick, formerly of Glasgow, passed away on March 14, 2008, in Riverdale.

She is survived by one son: Stevenson Elliott of Riverdale, Ga.; two sisters: Georgia Wright of Glasgow and Audrey Neal of Louisville; and one brother: Ricky Buford of Falls Church, Va.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 20, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Glasgow, 611 S. Lewis St. with interment in the Oddfellow Cemetery, Glasgow. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today at the church.

Watts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Hazel Virginia Young

LAWRENCEBURG — Hazel Virginia Young, 87, a former Glasgow resident, died Monday, March 17, 2008, at the Terrace Nursing and Rehab Center in Berea.

She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late Enoch and Maggie Butler Stone. Mrs. Young was a homemaker and also farmed with her late husband, Marshall Tean Young. She was a member of the Hanging Fork Baptist Church at Finney.

Survivors include one daughter: Loretta Mountjoy (George) of Lawrenceburg; one granddaughter: Brandy Sewell (Robert Jr.) of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008, at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Huffman/Butler Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

HORSE CAVE — Betty Jean Hawkins Spencer, 72, died Monday, March 17, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, with interment in the Center Point Cemetery in Munfordville. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. to service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

GLASGOW — Sarah A. Bowers, 79, died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at the Barren County Health Care Center. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Poplar Log Cemetery.
