EDMONTON — Jerry Lee Ballard, 65, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Ballard Family Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 5 until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Ballard, one son: Thomas Andrew (Karen) Ballard, two daughters: Judy Carmela Deleene Ballard, all of Edmonton, Amy Jo-Alice Ballard and fiancé Lance Matthews of Hardyville; one grandchild: Annie LeRay Matthews of Hardyville; two brothers: Roger and Junior Ballard, both of Glasgow; four sisters: Alice Medley and Bonnie Ballard, both of Horse Cave, Connie Pulliam of Edmonton, and Jeanette Rogers of Glasgow. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Wilton and Bertha Alice Poore Ballard; one son, Billy Ballard; two brothers, Wilton Wayne Ballard and Billy Lynn Ballard; and one sister, Loretta Mae Ballard. Ruby Lee Thomerson Birge AUSTIN — Ruby Lee Thomerson Birge, 88, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital. She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late Tom and Florence Rigney Houchens. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Jack Thomerson and Travis Birge. Mrs. Thomerson was a homemaker and was a member of the Caney Fork Baptist Church. She is survived by four daughters: Phyllis Ballard (Jerry), Susie Smith (Wendell), Nancy Young Nichols and Gladys Sizemore, all of Glasgow; one son: Gary Thomerson of Glasgow; two brothers: Jack Houchens of Colfax, Ill., and Henry Houchens of Cocoa, Fla.; one sister: Nevada Davis of Indianapolis, Ind.; three stepchildren, 15 grandchildren and several great- and great-great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Dianne Thomerson; and two sons-in-law, Carl "Pap" Young and Maxie Nichols; and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Caney Fork Cemetery. Burk, 81, formerly of Monroe County, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at the Audubon Hospital in Louisville. She was the daughter of the late Arvin Huff and Ebbie Nance Huff.
