SOUDERTON, Pa. — Thomas C. Braber, 85, formerly of Philadelphia, Pen., died on Jan. 31, 2008. He was the beloved husband for 62 years to Virginia (nee Garoppo), and loving father of Thomas James (Sylvia) of Burkesville, Virginia Lee Alcott of Glasgow, Andrea Doria Braber of Souderton, Pa., Diane Marie Braber of Montclair, N.J., Mary Beth Austin (Richard) of Lansdale, Pa., and Mary Jo Downey (Robert) of Sellersville, Pa. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Liam and Ryan Braber, Angelina and Gabriella Alcott, Thomas and Michael Braber, Brian and William Pasley, Richard and Johanna Austin and Sarah and Alex Downey; and two great-grandchildren, Mason and Kaden Stone. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Cornelius Braber and Ivy Mae (nee Locke) Braber, brother of the late Ruth Sigel and Robert Braber. A 1940 graduate of Girard College, he was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the 6th Beach Battalion and Salvage Group IV, having landed on Omaha Beach during the invasion of Normandy. He owned and operated his own business for 51 years, Thomas C. Braber Pattern Maker and Atlantic Mold Company. He was a member of St. Maria Goretti Parish in Hatfield, Pa. A Mass of Christian Burial was held for the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in his name to St. Ann’s Basilica, P.O. Box 111, Scranton, PA 18504. Arrangements were under the direction of the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., Franconia, Pa. Joy Dow SCOTTSVILLE — Joy Dow, 58, died at 2 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, from injuries received in the tornado. She was a registered nurse at Greenview Regional Hospital, a member of Scottsville Church of God of Prophecy, a graduate of Tomlinson College and Garland County Community College. She was the wife of Michael Walter Dow, who died in the same tragedy. She was a daughter of Lattie Harrison Moore of Scottsville, who survives, and the late Mildred Maxine Frost Moore. In addition to her father, she is survived by one son: Kenneth Skillern Jr., of Mount Ida, Ark.; two daughters: Brandi Jensen and her husband, Jaron, of Gunnison, Utah, and Cherilyn Guy of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother: Alan Moore of Scottsville; three sisters: Judy Hatton and her husband, Kenneth, of Mt. Washington, Joan Lang and her husband, Richard, of Wilmington, Ill., and Angel Searcy of Tampa, Fla.; and eight grandchildren. Joint funeral services for Joy and Michael Dow were at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at Goad Funeral Home, Scottsville, with the Rev. Ron Graves officiating and burial in the Crescent Hill Cemetery. Mike Dow SCOTTSVILLE — Mike Dow, 50, died at 2 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, from injuries received in the tornado. The Westdale, N.Y., native was an employee of Harley Davidson of Bowling Green. He was a son of the late Gerald William Dow and Elizabeth Mae Rasmussen Dow Rehborg, of Mesa, Ariz., who survives. He was the husband of the late Phyllis Joy Moore Dow, who died in the same tragedy.
